Janice's cast was removed this morning! She's feeling the freedom. Now, seven weeks after the orthopedic surgery, she needs to start bearing weight on her right leg in a slow progress. Her instructions are to use a bathroom scale, applying pressure up to twenty pounds today. These exercises will increase in weight bearing over the next three weeks, until she can stand with half her weight on her right leg.
NJT 4213 leads Train 1003 out of Denville NJ after taking a short rest for Train 853 to pass. 853 was the train of the day with NJT 4101 leading. I was glad to catch both with the short time I had, I will take any GP40s! Taken 11/5/22
“The World Turns” by Michael Parekowhai casts a small native water rat, the kuril, in the role of hero. Along with the traditional Aboriginal custodians, the kuril is one of the caretakers of the land upon which the Gallery and this sculpture stand. The kuril is intrinsically linked to the mangroves that weave around the Kurilpa Point shoreline, which feed it and provide it with shelter, and that these trees, with their strong tentacle-like roots, are the source of nourishment for a diverse ecology.

Stone arch near Cape Greko, Cyprus, long exposure before sunset. There is a serious newly built fence around this formation that really ruins the atmosphere, I guess it's no longer to possible to get a different angle than this, I have seen photos taken from a lower angle.

Another one from a few weeks ago taken on Holy Island, Northumberland.
I took the opportunity to get around the back of the castle to take a shot of the low sun hitting the boat houses and the castle.
I thought the contrast was better in B&W...
Named after the Oasis song (after realising myself and my tripod shadow were in shot!);

As Opallion prepared to cast the spell, he took a deep breath, and let his mind focus. He felt calm seep through his body.
He concentrated with all his might on his happiest memory, and whispered the incantation, "Expecto Patronum."
His Patronus burst forth from his wand, dancing around the room, but he strangely couldn't identify what creature it was.
Then it hit him; he had read about it somewhere: This was a formless Patronus. A Patronus that still took on the thing you identified with, but it wasn't an animal, it wasn't a person, or thing, it was a concept, for Opallion - Flight. He grinned as he recognized his Patronus, a wing.

"The former Lava Cast Forest Geological Area (now part of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument) was established by the Forest Service in 1942. The geological area was established to protect the many lava trees and tree molds which occur in the area. The various flows of the Lava Cast Forest were all erupted from the Northwest Rift Zone of Newberry Volcano."
"There is a one mile paved self guided interpretive trail with barrier free access. The trail loops through an area where hot molten lava erupted from the northwest flank of Newberry Volcano and engulfed a forest here 7,000 years ago. The landscape now includes the "casts" or molds, of these ancient trees. Colonizing plants, such as delicate penstemon flowers and Indian paintbrush, have taken root in the rocky soil. Ponderosa pine trees have re-established themselves and flourished as well, so that the landscape now includes a blend of the past and the present."
