Cabinet Card By Smiley, Kewanee, Ill. Note the extreme similarity between the chair in this photo, and the one in the next photo. These pictures were taken by different photographers, 40 miles apart, but it looks like the same chair.

Business card for psychologist. It has two parts, inside and outside. Outside part has square perforations.
So how did I come across my late father's contacts' business card folio today? Our old but trusty Maytag washing machine broke down the other day. The problem is relatively simple to repair (still costly though) so we are determined to get it fixed. In order to clear out some space for the repairman to do his job, I had to move some boxes around, and in doing so came across my dad's business card folio.
My father collected stamps, coins and many other things, so his contacts and associates are from many walks of life and many different countries.
Back of the card reads:
Pappa's graf
Hessingen
Since the spelling looks Dutch to me, I suppose it's the tomb of a Dutch person buried in Hessingen. It was very common for people along the border to live on and off in The Netherlands and Germany at that time.
Shooting a graphics card. One flash, card on brown-colored acrylic glass, underneath the glass: dark cloth (black velvet).
That's it. Btw.: Yes, I was too lazy to clone out the spacer ...
5-min-Photoshop fix: darkening the background (paint black color all around the card and the reflection), sharpening.

Here is a card I have entered into the challenge going on over at Cardvarks. The challange is to create a wedding card. I cut out some layers again. It seems to be a simple technique that has a lot of dramatic impact. I cut the label shape out with my Silhouette. For more info. please see my blog.
Just love the texture and colors used in this one. Originally posted here businesscarddesignideas.com/erin-wallaces-cute-business-c...
This is another kind of envelope for giving cards as a gift - about 5 cards with envelopes inside each. I premake these so I have something on hand in an emergency. You can just cut the 1/2" CS in a square, put a brad through it secure on end of ribbon/twine/whatever you come up with as a tie on the top & it's done. I copied my template from one in my local craft store - might be one on-line. On one card - HA Clear butterfly & on other HA Clear leaf from the Share Laughter set. You want to choose one saying, one earthy thing, one fun thing to stamp - or so I'm told.
Card for one layer challenge. The background is created with masking straight on the card with masking tape. I used reinkers + Glimmer Mist pearl to create the painted background.
When dry, it was then stamped with "Many Birds" stamp + Versamark. Then it was heat embossed with white powder. Finally, peel the masking tape carefully off the card.
TFL & happy stamping. :)
Working with this gorgeous new stamp set from SSS, more spring flowers. I coloured the biggest flower using some distress inks and added an ombré background for some interest.
Here's how I attached the acetate as the front of the card: I stamped and colored the image using Efflorescence from Penny Black on 4.25 x 5.5 card stock. Then I attached it with temporary adhesive to the card base and fussy cut the outline. Finally, I sandwiched the acetate between the two layers.

-------------------------------
This is John H. Riggs (04 Aug 1851 - 14 Sep 1919) and Melvina Annette Stephens Riggs (24 Mar 1850 - 28 Mar 1932). They lived in Oklahoma a relatively short time, around 1910. This cabinet card was probably finished around then when John was about 60. He died in 1919 at 68 years old.
