A friend was ordering parts from a Polish BrickLink store and asked if there was anything I wanted while he was doing an international order. I noticed they had the a lot of the new (ish) 2x2 turntable pieces going cheap, so when the order arrived, I immediately set to work to build something with a few of them. Thus the Micropolis Capsule Hotel was born. Cheap and cheerful, it's a popular place to stay while visiting the tiny city. Ref: D1710-049

This began life as an image of bullet shaped capsules starting off in opposite directions. The color map is simply red and white and I have a box of cookies for anyone who can somehow extract the original color image.
What is it exactly ? A time capsule ? A space capsule ?
Do you have any suggestion ?
It's an experiment : I played a bit with photoshop, to give both a timeless and fantastic aspect to it...

An antacid (lansoprazole) capsule opened up to reveal the medication fragments inside. The capsule measures about 1cm in length. Pentax-M f2.8 28mm lens reverse mounted on to my canon 7D mark 2.

After leaving Kyoto we went on to Kobe, cause on google we found a hint that near Kobe there was (for japanese references) a nice beach. And we just wanted to relax one day after being always on our feet. The result was in fact quite a good beach and a terrible sunburn...
The special thing is, that we slept in a capsule hotel. A capsule hotel is a hotel that doesnt consist of rooms but rather - guess what - capsules. One has 2m x 1m x 0,5m room in such a capsule and also a little TV, radio station and light. Here u see me climbing into one of the capsules. There were about 50 capsules in that one room and only men were allowed to stay in these hotels.
And everyone wore such a green outfit, including me and Kai (whereas Kai's was quite too small for a guy of 1,90m).
I also needed some time to convince him it was a good idea. He finally agreed and it was quite an experience! Capsule hotels only exist in Japan (I think so at least) and so we took the opportunity to stay there. Luckily they also had a wonderful Sento (public bath with hot water - like an Onsen) and the place was super clean.
Only some guys were quite loud during the night - but my earplugs prevented me mostly from hearing them cough, sneeze or snot. (The "door" is just like a linen cover so all noises come through - even farts!)
Capsule hotels aren't neccessarily for tourists, mostly business men try to get a "room" for a night. People staying longer than that are rather unusual I would say. We stayed two nights, though. One night was about 20 Euros or ~2500 Yen.

Only found in Japan, this low cost hotels can host dozens of customers in only one room.
It's definitively not for claustrophobic people!
For the story, I didn't planned my trip well and ended up in transit in an unknown Japanese town. The only youth hostel was sold out so I had to improvise.
I ended up in this huge Casino/hotel/Onsen complex, bargaining for a room.
For a pretty decent price, I was assigned my own capsule n°7001 and free access to the Onsen.
With nothing to do till my train on next morning, I spend the evening chilling in hot tubes, surrounded by naked Japanese guys that didn't speak a word of English!
