…… We had a 50 mile ride out today to visit a new to us N/Trust property - well worth the trip, we are so lucky to have these wonderful places to peep into lives past, imagine life back in the day and relive some snapshots in time. Spoilt for choice for my #243 shot of the day but I knew when I took the winner that it would be the one! Thanks to N/T & volunteers for a great day out. Alan:-)

Vintage tram at the Black Country Museum, Dudley.
Interesting place, I have visited once before as a child with family, so It was nice to go back. Lot's to see. It's also made me want to watch Peaky Blinders..
Hopefully next time I go the trams will be out!
I do love to see places like this, I find it quite fascinating going back in time for a few hours.
Lots of them. Their structural "logic" can be described mathematically. Underneath this logic, however, is a fundamental assumption. That there is a future. That some seeds will be "found" and "finding" good soil and water and so on. The theory of evolution tells us that, today, we are only meeting those life forms that had this in-built logic to them and, therefore, were able to survive. Other life forms went extinct. We know now that most life forms, humans included, will be around for a limited period of time only. They will be replaced or out-competed by other species. But life itself seems to go on as long as our planet offers the necessary conditions. What is it that makes life "wish" to continue, to spread and proliferate? And since life starts with matter, does matter have an in-built drive towards self-organisation, that is, towards life and, ultimately, to forms of self-consciousness? We have sent time capsules into space speculating that aeons from now another civilisation will read Voyager's message and know that, a very long time ago, there was something like humanity and on a planet that may no longer exist. These are the golden, hairy, 'calyptra', which on tis species of moss, completely envelop the fruiting body. They will eventually drop off, revealing the spore bearing sporangium.

Logansport, IN - A time capsule of a line out of Logansport is the Pennsy I&F branch, once a bustling mainline to Indianapolis, now a few-times-a-week run to spot and grab cars from various co-op places along the line. We’re looking south at RIVER on Conrail’s timetable. A crossing relay box with a crossing indicator is lit up as TP&W 5009 approaches from Clymers light. After they cross the mighty Wabash, they’ll grab a cut and head back to Clymers. This is all a baby step compared to the fast double track PRR days.
