Iron-clad

in layers of memories -

Immobile

with silent grief

Hollow-eyed

semblances of life.

They will smile

and talk –

and perform -

Fooling everybody

but themselves.

"TO BE OPENED 2016"

Buried in 1966, this time capsule represented the hopes for the future, and the town's 150th anniversary. Who could have known at that time there would be no town when the capsule was due to be opened.

Former residents are expected to return for the opening of this capsule in five years.

The former Church of England school in Ironbridge (constructed 1859), which has lain empty for a number of years and is now in urgent need of much love.

Passing by recently, I chanced upon a gentleman with the keys who has been looking after the property until such time as it is sold, so naturally I had to ask if he could show me round for a nosey and a few photos.

Although there is an enormous amount of clutter, apparently most has already been removed in readiness for the upcoming sale (by auction). Prior to the clear out, access to the rooms was only available via a narrow passage between the mountains of clutter.

The famous and beautiful Nakagin Capsule Tower in the Shimbashi area of Tokyo. They've been talking about demolishing this building for years, but it's still standing.

It's a fact that this time capsule has a long history and that it’s over a hundred years old but it's hard to find any more information. In the 1940s, there was a major fire inside the building and several floors were destroyed. Shortly after that the hotel was confiscated by the Nazi regime and used as a maternity hospital. After World War 2 this site was confiscated again – this time by the British occupying troops. Due to the massive number of refugees the total population of the village tripled – a lot of them were accommodated in the hotel. But here our chronicle is ending. We couldn’t find out why this place was abandoned – you can only speculate. Maybe the hotel was too far off the beaten track. But as it seems this place was still in use around ten years ago.

Where the 'retard capsules' come from .. hell I don't know .. :) .. Perhaps it is French or some Dutch medical term?

"Nakagin Capsule Tower," built as an innovative and experimental architectural piece (the capules are designed to be replaceable), now stanes as a decrepit monstrosity that generates controversy over its future.

We came across the building purely by chance. It was easy to see the point made by the opponents of its tear-down that it's an architectural landmark. It is definitely very different from anything else around it. But at the same time, the decrepitude was quite obvious--nobody "replaced" the capsules as intended. Apparently most of the capsules are used as office spaces now, although a sign on the entrance door claimed that it was a "manshion" (a term used in Japan to refer to higher-end apartments and condominiums) and not "a capsule hotel."

A hotel or a condo, I wouldn't be thrilled to spend more than a few hours in this building!

Named by the planetary-explorer who originally found one on the planet Yar; no one knows exactly where these vessels originated from. Only one, if any others do exist, are seen at a given time, yet there is always someone different inside.

Functioning as a type of self sustaining prison, the victims of the machines wake up inside not knowing how they became trapped inside the capsule. A way to enter or exit these machines has not been discovered at this time, and no Ancient Records have been found that correspond with the device. No one is quite sure how long a victim lives inside the vessel, or what happens to the victim once they pass, but it's theorized a nutrient rich atmosphere in the machine can keep a person alive for many years, sentenced to float through the outer most reaches of space, having no control over the destination, or their sanity.

They have been encountered in various "black-space" areas where few beings are willing to travel, and also observed flying low over pedestrian walkways in major space ports and planetary cities. The prisoner trapped inside, silently screaming, while the populous below is unable to help them or stop the vessel.

My wife and I went to the Terrace Theatre on our first date way back in 1988 when we were still in school. I had never noticed this time capsule before. I would love to know what is in there...

I have my doubts that it will make it until 2067. The theatre is abandoned now and is in disrepair.
