Secret Knowledge, Patience, Longevity
"Corr brings the qualities of patience and perseverance. The crane is capable of standing for hours motionless in the water waiting for the right moment to capture its prey. ... Together with the ability to operate in the Underworld, the crane symbolizes science arcana, the Secret Knowledge, which in the Druid tradition is represented by the writings of Ogham - the tree language of the Druids. In a broader sense learning this language requires the ability to read the 'Book of Nature'."

1931 Cadillac Model 452 (for the total cubic inches) Fleetwood Convertible Coupe. This beauty was one of only 4 of these built in 1931, and the first of this model that year.
“Magically smooth, uncommonly capable, quiet, powerful,” was how Cadillac described their V16 engine in 1931, and they were spot on. Towards the end of the roaring 20’s, Cadillac was striving for ways to make effortless power, matched with unparalleled luxury. While the V16 was announced after the Wall Street Crash of 1929, the release of the new Cadillac was extremely well received and nearly 3000 examples were built in the first year of production.
Released in 1930, Cadillac became the first American car manufacturer to introduce a production car with a V16 motor. In the early 1930s prestigious American car manufacturers were in a tight battle of “cylinder wars.” The likes of Packard, Franklin, Lincoln, Auburn, and Pierce Arrow all had created 12-cylinder cars by 1932. Marmon, a Cadillac competitor, thought about the idea of creating a 16-cylinder car in the late 1920s before Cadillac, but were unable to do so due to the lack of resources.
At a time when a custom coach-built body was a symbol of status and wealth, the V16 became the one of the most revered chassis. Cadillac wanted the engine to be as vibration-free as possible, and eight combustion cycles per crankshaft revolution combined with balanced internals meant that a V16 was one of the best available packages.
As early as 1926, Ex-Marmon engineer Owen Nacker designed the V16 from two straight-8 Buick units that shared a common crankcase and crankshaft. Each bank was independently operated and only shared a common, center mounted camshaft which operated the valves with pushrods. The 45 degree angle between the banks was unusually narrow to fit inside the chassis. It was named after its 452 inch cubic displacement and produced 185 bhp which was good for 100 mph. It also used a unique hydraulic valve silencing system that reduced noise and was a novel feature in its day.
Cadillac general manager Lawrence Fisher and GM’s stylist Harley Earl were largely responsible for the V16s styling. Most of the cars were bodied by Fleetwood in Pennsylvania which was later purchased and moved to Michigan by GM to keep business in-house. The customer could choose between 70 or so available bodies that were elaborately finished and all highly individualized in detail. If that wasn’t enough, Cadillac could also provide a bare chassis to be fitted by the independent styling house of the customer’s choice.
Despite difficult times, and a price tag higher than any previous Cadillac, the V16 was ordered in huge numbers throughout 1930. GM paraded six cars for European tour and the cars received acclaim by both the press and public. Production reached 2000 examples by June, but by the end of the year, the economic depression nearly halted sales.
During an eleven year production, 4076 V16s were constructed in several series.
After the initial flourish in 1930, production grinded away for ten years with only fifty units made per year. Later, Cadillac reverted to their V12 unit but only after the V16 had made its lasting mark. In the end, Cadillac lost money on every car sold, but it was worth the cost of propelling the marque as a whole. It was estimated the V16 cost Cadillac 54 million dollars.

Exceptionally capable camera. I especially like the ability to adjust depth of field after the photo is taken, when editing!
How did I capture this?
So I got a lot of emails and messeges asking how I captured this, I thought it's better to type it down here so that everybody can read :)!
First of all, you don't have to have a SLR camera to be able to do this, Point and Shoots work just as fine as long as it is Macro capable :)!
Here are some examples taken with a Point and shoot, by El Angel
I took this in the kitchen sink and the background is my plaid top.
Turn on the flash and set the camera on AP (aperture priority) or you can just set it to macro mode .
Turn on the water tap enough so that the water doesn't come continuesly but it comes fast enough so that you keep getting drops. It also depends on you if you want to have multiple drops in a shot and so on ( just play with it).
Now for focusing:
If you have a point and shoot -
you can focus on the very bottom of water tap or the continues water that is coming out of the tap.
If you have a SLR with MF/AF -
try to focus on the water tap or the water that's coming out of it with AF so you get the right focus, then turn the focus to MF so as the water moves you focus doens't try to change too. move the camera down enough depending of how much of the water you want to have on you shoot, and the take the picture.
make sure as you move the camera dow with the MF it deosn't move to the front or back because then it won't be in focus any more.
Then keep on shooting untill you get the drop you like :)!
Btw, I turned this picture upside down, so it would look like the pointy water is poking the round drop.
And finally HAVE FUN taking pictures of drops!

Not only is the pied kingfisher (Ceryle rudis) the largest bird capable of a true hover in still air, it is also the only kingfisher with all black and white plumage. This distinctive bird has white-spotted, black upperparts and white underparts, with a broad band of black streaks on the upper-breast and a narrow black bar below. There is a prominent white eyebrow and a black eyeband that stretches to the back of the neck, as well as a white throat and collar and a white patch on the wing-coverts. The rump is barred black and white, the iris is brown and the weak, fleshy, feet and legs are black. The male pied kingfisher is distinguished from the female by the presence of two full breast bands, with the female having just a single incomplete band.
This Pied Kingfisher was photographed on a boat ride just as it had caught its prey of a tiny fish from the waters of Lake Baringo, Kenya.
Agkistrodon piscivorus is a venomous snake, a species of pit viper, found in thesoutheastern United States. Adults are large and capable of delivering a painful and potentially fatal bite. When threatened, they may respond by coiling their bodies and displaying their fangs.[3] Although their aggression has been exaggerated, individuals may bite when feeling threatened or being handled.[4] This is the world's only semiaquatic viper, usually found in or near water, particularly in slow-moving and shallow lakes, streams, and marshes. The snake is a strong swimmer and has even been seen swimming in the ocean. However, it is not fully marine, unlike true sea snakes. It has successfully colonized islands off both the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.

took this photo with a Nikon D700. Nice camera, very capable. But it has a design defect regarding some simple parts.
Here's my "peeling grip" story. My D700 is 9 months old, bought in the US (my permanent home) and delivered there when I was home last winter. I live and work full-time outside the US.
For 8 months, the rubber grips were fine. Then all of a sudden, 2 of them lifted off the camera and now are loose over about 3/4 of their area. They'll stick back down if I press on them, but that lasts only for a couple of hours.
I wrote to Nikon USA, told them I couldn't send the camera in for warranty repair because I'm overseas and the cost of shipping would be $350 per DHL. I requested that Nikon simply send me replacement grips (which have the double-sided adhesive attached) and I'd do the replacement.
Nikon's response: spend the money and ship the camera to Melville NY. They wrote that it's not possible for Nikon to send the grip panels to me under any circumstances.
My response is simple: they're nuts.
My next response? Other companies make nice cameras too, even though 40+ years of Nikon use is hard to forget. I'll learn to live without my Nikons over time.
But it's also hard to believe that a company is so inflexible, and cares so little for its customers. That sort of corporate behavior is what led to the bankruptcy of the US auto industry; it's remarkable that Nikon has chosen that sorry example as its role model.
This strange, turkey-like, galliforme bird has a world distribution almost entirely restricted to Venezuela -- and Tobago. (It is not found in neighbouring Trinidad.) On Tobago it is abundant; its loud cackling "coc-eri-co, coc-eri-co!" can be heard everywhere along the forest edges in the early morning. Female answers male at a slightly higher pitch. They hop clumsily from branch to branch, although they are quite capable of flight.

Fun note on it's beginnings:
Back when we lived on the West Coast, we met one of our favorite space builders (Tardis Blue/Nick Trotta [Who is also tagged in this photo})
For awhile we've sought to osmosis some of his awesome starship building powers. For years nothing ever came of it, but finally this last month we were able to create our first Trotta-Try. In this instance mimicry is our sincerest form of flattery, and we hope it pleases the master.

After all you put me through
You'd think I'd despise you
But in the end, I wanna thank you
'Cause you made me that much stronger
Well, I thought I knew you
Thinkin' that you were true
Guess I, I couldn't trust, called your bluff
Time is up 'cause I've had enough
You were there by my side
Always down for the ride
But your joyride just came down in flames
'Cause your greed sold me out in shame, mhm
After all of the stealing and cheating
You probably think that I hold resentment for you
But uh-uh, oh no, you're wrong
'Cause if it wasn't for all that you tried to do
I wouldn't know just how capable
I am to pull through
So I wanna say thank you, 'cause it
Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh, yeah, yeah, ohh
Never saw it coming
All of your backstabbing
And just so you could cash in on a good thing
Before I realized your game
I heard you're goin' 'round
Playin' the victim now
But don't even begin feeling I'm the one to blame
'Cause you dug your own grave
After all of the fights and the lies
Guess you're wanting to hold me
But that won't work anymore (no more, a-ha, it's over)
'Cause if it wasn't for all of your torture
I wouldn't know how to be this way now and never back down
So I wanna say thank you, 'cause it
Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter
How could this man I thought I knew
Turn out to be unjust, so cruel?
Could only see the good in you
Pretended not to see the truth
You tried to hide your lies, disguise yourself
Through living in denial
But in the end you'll see, you won't stop me
I am a fighter and I (I'm a fighter)
I ain't gon' stop (I ain't gonna stop)
There is no turning back
I've had enough
Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder (ooh, yeah)
It makes me that much wiser (ooh, yeah)
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster (yeah)
Made my skin a little bit thicker (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Makes me that much smarter (yeah)
So thanks for making me a fighter (fighter)
You thought I would forget but I, I remembered (ooh-ooh-ooh)
'Cause I remembered (ooh-ooh-ooh)
I remembered
You thought I would forget (ooh-ooh)
I remembered (ooh-ooh)
'Cause I remembered (ooh)
I remembered
Makes me that much stronger (ooh-ooh)
Makes me work a little bit harder (ooh-ooh)
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker

About a half hour before sunrise, 13,000 foot train 121 climbs the grade out of Moncton, approaching Berry Mills, heading for their next crew change point at Edmundston. There’s not much to the shot, but I do kind of like how the train lights up a small portion of the shot. This wouldn’t have been capable with my other camera.

I'm not human until I've had at least two mugs of tea in the morning and definitely not capable of taking a photo until I've had my first one.
As I was having awful problems trying to take a photo inside I took my mug into the garden. It was almost warm enough to stay out there to drink it too.
We started calling my mug of tea "a mugga" when we still had Tigger and Bonnie as when they heard the word "tea" they thought it was food time. Although Izzy and Rufus don't do the same "a mugga" has stuck.

I have long wanted a half cut nautilus shell but have resisted the temptation until now, when I realised that many online shops have stopped selling them because of concerns about the species being under threat, though not yet listed as endangered. I did make sure that I bought from a supplier which states that it only buys from approved sources.
Having survived relatively unchanged for millions of years, nautilus are often considered to be "living fossils”, indeed ammonites are a related extinct species.
When seen from the top, the natural shell is darker in colour and marked with irregular stripes, which makes it blend into the darkness of the water below. Conversely, the underside is almost completely white, making it indistinguishable from brighter waters near the ocean’s surface. Whilst the shells frequent waters around 300m below the surface, the shell is capable of withstanding pressures down to 500m.
As the nautilus matures its body moves forward, sealing the chamber behind it. The last fully open chamber being used as the living chamber.
I'm not happy with the lighting in this shot - the shell is much more beautiful in reality.

I think one of the myths that long exposures like this are capable of telling is that a place that was loud or dramatic or dynamic or tempestuous was instead calm and quiet and soothing. I like doing long exposure work quite a bit for a variety of reasons, but I admit sometimes that it bugs me just a little that the roar of the ocean and pounding of the surf are made to appear as if they were never present at all. A scene that looks calm and peaceful was anything but those things. But all photos (or photographers) tell stories. Everything we make could be (or perhaps should be) viewed as a form of fiction... or at the least of narrative. To some degree they all document something, but at the same time I think we tend to believe a bit too readily in what is presented to our eyes. In this image's case I like that the softness of a surf that was anything but placid is balanced by the rough and rugged volcanic rock. You may not be able to see the ocean's bluster in this image but you get a glimpse of its teeth at least.

Dear ANDORE Customer,
Today, I’m announcing the official closure of the ANDORE brand.
Six years ago, the world of Second Life welcomed a new creative venture — ANDORE. What began as a modest collection of ear & accessories quickly grew into something far greater than I could have ever anticipated. I was genuinely moved by the warmth and enthusiasm with which you embraced my designs. Your support, passion, and love for my creations have meant the world to me.
Throughout the years, I have worked tirelessly to bring you joy through fresh ideas and thoughtful design. However, as time went on, the brand became closely — and almost exclusively — associated with ears. While this recognition is an honor, it has also limited the broader creative vision I hold for the future.
As I observed other brands evolve and diversify, it became clear to me that ANDORE is capable of much more. It is more than just one product or a single aesthetic—it holds the potential to grow, expand, and inspire in new ways. And for that to happen, change is necessary.
It is time for a transformation.
In order to breathe life into something new, we must first let go of the old. For this reason, the ANDORE group will be closed to new members, and the in-world store will be temporarily unavailable. Existing products will be gradually transferred to the Marketplace, and eventually removed from the in-world location.
However, this is not a final farewell. ANDORE is simply stepping away to return renewed—reborn with a fresh identity, a new vision, and reimagined ideas.
As for the beloved ear accessories—fear not. I am excited to announce the creation of a separate brand: LEX.
LEX will carry forward the legacy of ANDORE’s signature ears and jewelry, while expanding into new areas of body customization. The new group for LEX will be available to join free of charge until April 15th, after which a fee will apply. A link to the new group will be included in the post description and shared within the ANDORE group announcements.
I wish to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has supported ANDORE over the years. Your loyalty, creativity, and enthusiasm have been a constant source of inspiration.
Thank you for being part of this journey—and thank you in advance to those who will join me as I continue this next chapter with LEX.
With heartfelt appreciation, ArtemZgursky

They enjoy the occasional mud bath, as evidenced by the fur of this individual, Capybaras are very common in the vicinity of Iberá.

The Black Swan is a widespread bird, able to live in almost any wetland. During the nesting season, it is found mainly on or near large shallow lakes. The rest of the year, it also frequents small isolated stagnant ponds, sheltered bays or brackish coastal lagoons. The Black Swan is nomadic and has a powerful flight. It can easily fly over land and knows how to step on lakes or flooded farming areas. However, where food and nesting sites are abundant, the Black Swan is homebody. As one of the most adaptable waterbirds, the Black Swan usually looks for shallow water bodies where its morphology allows it to feed comfortably.

The young, on the other hand, are preyed upon by lions, hyenas and crocodiles. The pygmy hippopotamus is preyed upon by leopards, Seba pythons and crocodiles.
Aurelia aurita (also called the moon jelly, moon jellyfish, common jellyfish, or saucer jelly) is a widely studied species of the genus Aurelia. All species in the genus are closely related, and it is difficult to identify Aurelia medusae without genetic sampling; most of what follows applies equally to all species of the genus.
The jellyfish is translucent, usually about 25–40 cm (10–16 in) in diameter, and can be recognized by its four horseshoe-shaped gonads, easily seen through the top of the bell. It feeds by collecting medusae, plankton, and mollusks with its tentacles, and bringing them into its body for digestion. It is capable of only limited motion, and drifts with the current, even when swimming.
Although their usual dish is fish, Green Herons are known to consume amphibians, small reptiles, and even rodents. An unlucky frog has a fateful encounter with this crafty and beautiful bird. Green herons are one of the few bird species capable of using tools to aid in capturing prey. Like so many other waders, it swallows its captives whole. #GreenHeron
An extremely capable pair of engines preferred on yard jobs nationwide (which rarely catch these assignments on the R&N) wait for the first inbound train to arrive at North Reading Yard on a late winter evening. RBMN 2010 and 2011 were built as SOU 5139 and 5184, respectively, as evidenced by the illuminated walkway lights on the long hood.

Every girl and every woman, has the potential to make this world a better place, and that potential lies in the act of thinking higher thoughts and feeling deeper things. When women and girls, everywhere, begin to see themselves as more than inanimate objects; but as beautiful beings capable of deep feelings and high thoughts, this has the capacity to create change all around. The kind of change that is for the better.

Pedraza, Segovia.
Pedraza is a town and municipality in the province of Segovia (Spain), located 37 km northeast of Segovia capital and with a resident population of 467 people (INE 2011). It is a medieval walled town, whose careful rehabilitation motivated its declaration as a Historic Site in 1951.
The municipality is made up of Pedraza and the towns of Rades de Abajo and La Velilla.
Its name seems to derive from the Roman Pretaria, although the first historical data go back to Don Fernando Gómez de Albornoz, commander of Montalbán, who was appointed by King Enrique II of Castile Señor de Pedraza. Later it passed into the hands of the Herrera family and at the end of the 15th century it passed to the constables of Castile due to the marriage between Doña Blanca Herrera and Don Bernardino Fernández de Velasco. It remained in these hands until in the nineteenth century the manors were abolished. The constables settled there, being the place of passage for great personalities, as artists, nobles and monarchs. In the sixteenth and seventeenth century, the period of greatest splendor of the town took place, and it is from when most of the houses and palaces date. This prosperity was due, among other things, to the export to Northern Europe of the wool of their flocks of Merino sheep and their excellent fabrics, capable of competing with the best that were made in Flanders.
Pedraza Castle is a fortress built in the 13th century that was rebuilt in the 15th century by García Herrera. At the beginning of the 16th century the Dukes of Frías, Condestables de Castilla, reformed the castle again, adding the great defensive wall adhered to the keep and the outer wall equipped with gunships and a drawbridge (now disappeared). The castle has an imposing keep, moat, and is surrounded on most of its perimeter by a precipice.
