A very difficult shot for the post processing here! This is picture taken
next to the Blackfriars Bridge in the center of London at night. I had to
shoot 7 RAWs to get light on the sand and the bottom of the pillars but as
well without "burning" and recover all the details from the illuminated
industrial structure. The more detailed is the scene, the more difficult is
the manual HDR technique I've started to develop to apply. Indeed, I've
stacked all these different exposures in a stack in Photoshop CS5, I
aligned them and blended them together manually using blending modes, layer
masks and opacity. The hardest part is to stitch different exposures
together but avoiding that the picture looks like made of several different
pictures.
The light beam in the sky comes from the St Paul's Cathedral.
I hope you'll enjoy it!
Technical bit: On a clear night I located the North (or pole star). This star is static and the earth rotates around the pole star (just out of shot). I then took over 100 30 sec shots, with the earth's rotation being captured. These images are then stacked which will then show the earth's rotational movement. And that's about it.

Press the 'L' key, much better bigger.
This was an interesting evening in Monterey. The storm clouds moved quickly through the area and actually produced hail AND snow that day. I have never seen it snow in Big Sur, and the feeling was great. The snow did not last or stuck to the ground. That evening I ended up in Point Lobos park and went down the rocks to photograph this magnificent rock, which is called the Pinnacle rock. There were large waves crushing underneath me and it was a little scary to be on the edge. I knew that if I was to fell down into the sea below – I am a gonner. The adrenalin was rushing through my veins as I was snapping away the beautiful sunset. I have a few more compositions, but this one I liked because of the closer look at the Pinnacle rocks.

I've been anxiously awaiting this camera for some time now. I knew I wanted to be completely full-frame (my 7D couldn't measure up to my 5D mark 2 as far as image quality) so the fact this new model came out when it did was perfect. I haven't had much time with my new addition yet but it will be my primary body so the initial changes won't be a big of deal as I learn to make the controls my own. There has been a lot of "bad" press about the high price of the body but I've weighed it all out and examined my motives as distinctly NON-impulsive so I'm happy with my purchase. No buyer's remorse here!
Immediate likes:
silent shooting mode! (sooo quiet!)
Image quality at high ISOs.
Improved ergonomics.
construction
AF points galore (This is going to make my life so much easier)
Immediate dislikes:
The lack of support in Lightroom 4 (the curse of the early adopter)
New zoom method while reviewing images (I'll get used to it)
The way the new button configuration affects my technique on macro shots (I set up a custom button function so I'm good now.)
The lack of a battery grip (I'll get it as soon as it's out but it's throwing me off!)
