New to the garden this year is our new Candy Lily. It's
a beautiful, very small orange lily. The leaves of the plant look somewhat like an iris. It gets several blooms on each stalk.
For Macro Mondays 'Candy' theme - some candy kittens - sour watermelon flavour. Not really a massive fan of candy but these are very nice.

As I avoid sweets and all kind of "empty calory food" by principle, I had to scramble for finding anything related to the topic of the week: Candy.

Miniature Candy Cane Beets. I chose them because I thought they would be pretty. Now I have to figure out how to cook them. Area photographed covers 3" x 2"
Note: I ended up cooking them in the pressure cooker. It only took 15 minutes. I put them on salad. It was good, but they are much prettier raw.

The first candy cane was not made in the shape of a cane. It was white, completely straight and only flavored with sugar. Legend has it that in 1670, the cane shaped candy became historical when a choirmaster at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany bent the sugar-sticks into canes to appear as shepherd's hooks.
Some liquorice allsorts all lined up for the Macro Mondays 'Candy' theme. I don't actually eat them myself, candy is not really my thing, so donated them to my work colleagues ...

Those of you who have ever bought anything mail order from WEX, may have received some little sweeties in with their order.
Ages back I received a few little tubes of Love Hearts, which have remained uneaten ... does anyone like them? But I knew that at some point they'd come in useful for a photo challenge :))
A revisit to 2 of the themes this year, Candy and Foil. This Cadbury Hero chocolate mini Crunchie displayed among the foil in which it was wrapped.

Funny to feel like a kid while being back in Spain, finding the candies I fancied (some) decades ago at the local supermarket...
Preferences? well, first hearts (the sweetness and warmth), then eggs (nutrition and the start of life) and then bananas (vitamins, fiber and potassium)... am I talking about candies or making you reflect? your preferences (on candies)?
This is a miniature, of course. The whole thing is only about ¾" high. Behind it is a full-sized glass one which, I hasten to add, is empty and always has been. I bought it in the local garden centre to use as a prop. :)
