John Gallagher was a a former Canadian Forces member, who joined the fight in Syria, fighting and giving aid to those he truly believed to need the assistance. Gallagher was killed in an attack by ISIS involving a bomb at the side of the road.
A warm welcome by the community in which he grew up, Chatham-Kent,received Gallagher's body in the most Canadian tradition of lining the streets, highways and bridges along highway 401.
This has been the Canadian way of saying thank you to those who have sacrificed everything for the country since the war in Afghanistan.

Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE is the Canadian Army’s largest annual military exercise, the pinnacle of the Army’s Road to High Readiness Training. Drawn primarily from units of 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group from CFB Petawawa, Ontario, approximately 4 500 Canadian Armed Forces members are taking part in the exercise at Garrison Wainwright, Alberta from May 5 to June 1, 2014. .

Also participating in the exercise are units from the United States Army, United States Marine Corps, and a British Infantry Company, bringing the total number of troops to nearly 5 000 and making this year’s exercise the largest Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE ever held. .

Exercise TRILLIUM RESPONSE 14 involves more than 300 members of 4th Canadian Division, primarily the Arctic Response Company Group and Domestic Response Company. They are honing their skills in winter warfare, cold weather survival and the use of Arctic equipment, including Light Over Snow Vehicles (snowmobiles).
Ex TRILLIUM RESPONSE 14 focuses on proving the Division soldiers’ ability to fight, move and communicate in the harsh conditions of the Northern winter.

L’exercice TRILLIUM RESPONSE 14 met à contribution plus de 300 membres de la 4e Division du Canada, principalement du Groupe-compagnie d’intervention dans l’Arctique et de la Compagnie d’intervention nationale. Les participants perfectionneront leurs compétences dans les domaines de la guerre hivernale, la survie par temps froid et l’utilisation de l’équipement pour l’Arctique, y compris les véhicules légers pouvant se déplacer sur la neige (motoneiges).
L’Ex TRILLIUM RESPONSE 14 vise à rendre les soldats de la Division aptes à combattre, à se déplacer et à communiquer dans les conditions difficiles de l’hiver boréal.

Military Engineers of 4 Engineer Support Regiment 4 (ESR) from 5th Canadian Division Support Base (5 CDSB) Gagetown NB deployed to 5 Wing Goose Bay and the isolated community of Nain in northern Labrador to conduct Exercise NORTHERN SAPPER 2015 from 3-20 February 2015. This two-part exercise focuses on cordon-and-search training in and around Nain in order to locate a missing simulated missile and practise Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) skills, followed by training in advanced winter warfare, including live-fire ranges, snow defences and snowmobile familiarization in and around Happy Valley and 5 Wing Goose Bay NL.

Two CH-146 Griffon helicopters from the Task Force Kandahar Air Wing escort a CH-147D Chinook to deliver supplies to a forward installation in the Horn of Panjwa’i (HoP) region in Afghanistan.
Task Force Kandahar will continue robust security operations in conjunction with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA), Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), and its coalition and civilian partners in order to eliminate insurgent violence and set the conditions for successful and sustainable governance, development and peace in Southern Afghanistan.
