I get a decent number of questions asking me what I shoot with, do I use X or Y or whatever... so to make it easier I recently just took a photo of what's in my camera case, and then dumped it out so folks could get an idea of what tools I use (admittedly some more than other's).
This is what I keep my camera gear in... if you want to see the contents dumped out see this photo where it's easier to see everything as in this photo there is a lot of stuff that is buried under something else.

Tech Details: If your curious how one takes a photograph of all of one's photo gear the answer is you borrow a friends camera from down the street (a Rebel XT/350D with a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L lens).
Lighting provided by one White Lighting X1600 to camera right difused through a large softbox, with Westcott 42" Silver reflector to camera right to just bring in some fill light. A short roll of White Savage Seamless just hanging off the knuckle arm of an Avenger C-Stand (easier and quicker than getting out a big background stand). Triggered by a good ole-fashioned sync cable connected to a Nikon AS-15 on the hot shoe since the RebelXT/350D lacks a PC Sync connector.

CAMERA BEAN BAG.70% of weight filled with PLASTIC PELLETS for extra support,
Support my 500 lens no problems
made from a High quality poly/cotton fabric printed with a camouflage pattern. The bag is also fully lined in all compartments.
The bean bag comes with an attached Polypropylene Strap Webbing (25 mm wide, olive green colour) handle for easy carrying and has 3 separate compartments, with 20mm Velcro Tape and 10 mm Press Studs Snap Fasteners PRYM.
Each one is fully lined and filled with “Poly plastic pellets” and mixed with poly balls, total weight of bean bag is approx 900 grams, 700 grams of that is taken up with poly plastic pellets, the plastic pellets gives extra support and stability the rest is made up with poly balls and the material.
This bean bag is invaluable in bird hides, where it can be rested on the window ledges and avoid camera shake and also car windows, the weight of the bag is also ideal to carry around all-day. To have a bean bag just filled with poly balls is not heavy enough or stable, the plastic pellets in these bags gives that extra weight and support. It is lightweight, but stable on the surface.
This is really a great convenience for a photographer taking photos in the CAR, BIRD HIDE.
The quality of each bag is made to the highest standard and individually made in the UK.
---apologies for the massive upload spam. i feel like three photos is now a lot to upload, ahaha --

35mm SLR with non-interchangeable lenses. You added a large front element group to change the magnification (wide or tele). It turned out there was no real cost savings doing this and most people tended to opt for an interchangeable lens model instead. Canon upgraded this camera in 1972 to the EX Auto with a better way of adding supplementary lenses.
Shutter-preferred automation, speeds up to 1/500th. Cold accessory/flash shoe. The aperture is set by a dial around the rewind crank; choose your f-stop or set to automatic. The aperture settings work even without battery power. The lens opening you set is shown in the viewfinder. Very solid build much like the Canon FT and FX of the day.

Have a CLOSER look.
I think I've reached that "happy place" with regard to my camera equipment. I've covered 10mm to 1280mm with a couple of primes in there.
UPDATE: Got the Canon 580EX II flashgun from Luika as a birthday present.
Thanks Luika! You are simply too generous!
Thanks to Lukia for the lender of the 400D for this shot :)

What light through yon window breaks? Hey, it's the sun! Had some great natural light in the office today. Took five minutes to sunbathe a few older beauties.
Just got back into that disc of portraits with my and my then new baby. No longer blond, but the BW bender suggested I needed to play. And she does make me smile like that a lot... Taken by the divine Jake Shivery of Blue Moon Camera, Portland, OR.

I visited this place again yesterday to find an angle for a picture I am going to shoot later this summer. The guy in the picture is me taking a picture with my iPhone. I had my Canon 5D Mark II on a tripod when shooting this.
This picture is edited in Camera Raw. Click this link for a before and after preview: glennmeling.blogspot.no/2013/05/camera-raw.html
My boyfriend bought me this Canon AE-1 at a garage sale :) I haven't taken any pictures with it yet because I need a battery, but once I get it i'm gonna go picture crazy <33

Camera Fiend
You "jerk"! It takes ten years before
A pose can get you satisfied!
And when you've snapped 'em all--you find
Your camera's got no film inside!
This photo was taken a few minutes after my latest pullip photo. 8D The light is very different, isn't it?
This is my twin sister. She was derping around with her Canon EOS 600D. 8'D
It has a movable screen! I think that's pretty cool and useful for self portraits.
I don't know if you can see it but she is smiling like ... I don't even know. xD
Well, I realized my chance and took a snapshot of her. I enjoyed the editing a lot. I've always wanted to create a grainy photo.
Olden Camera in Manhattan was founded in 1947 by brothers Kurt and Wigo Olden. This camera store specialized in hard-to-find #film cameras and supplies. We loved visiting this store and were especially fond of ifs oversize #neonsign. In 1970 Olden Camera arranged to sell the very last Stereo Realist cameras f2.8 that used standard 135 film. They continued selling these cameras under their own name for six years making them the last place one could purchase these odd cameras. We can't remember exactly when this shop near Macy's and Herald Square closed but our 35mm photo of the entire #storefront with this amazing #neon was taken in 2004 and appears in our book "Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York". We definitely wish we could have somehow saved and displayed this gorgeous neon sign! Please let us know if you remember this store and what you purchased there and if you know what happened to that huge neon #camera!
