Like a moth to a flame.....
I set the camera up on my tripod under the (approx. 4') overhang on the back porch; based on the direction of the wind there was almost no rain coming in under it. I set up the camera with an MK Controls Lightning Bug and stepped back inside the back door and watched the light show in (relative) safety.

Hwy 149 is how you access this marvelous view, located between Lake City and Creede Colorado.
Looking to the WSW, South Clear creek runs as far as the eye can see into this valley. Down this valleyee one finds (more or less in order): Troutvale Reservoir, Brown Lakes, 3 separately named "Hermit" reservoirs, a Hermit Lake and in the far distance is Simpson Mtn (14 miles from the camera).
Were you to continue in the direction the camera is pointed past the Simpson mountain, a significant waypoint would be Shiprock NM. (SE of the 4 Corners area; a mere 111 miles further on.)

Autumn is a great time to be outdoors with a camera, especially, here in the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario. That's why I try to get out as often as possible at this time of year.
