Büyükada is the largest and most popular island close to Istanbul. No cars allowed, instead you can cycle and if you are of the more lazy kind you can take a phaeton, a horse pulled simple coach. Hazardous drivers turn your search for some calm into a near-death experience.
We have had a lot of storms and rain the last few weeks so now it is really nice with a few calm days and cold weather.
This is the sea from about 100 metres above, on the cliffs by Birling Gap. It was taken around an hour before sunset, after a beautiful afternoon on the beach and a nice pub meal in East Dean.
There were few people around, and the sea surface was as calm as glass. It was an unbelievable calmness for 1:30 in the afternoon.
This looks quite fun when the sea is this calm. . .But I would still prefer to be in a proper boat of some sort.
This is what happens when challenged to try & come up with the worst, most pitiful plays on the overused Internet meme "Keep Calm & Carry On"....
