It's been a long time since I've taken any photos or used Flickr, an even longer time since I've done either consistently and in the near crystalline stillness that is affecting so many of us now I've seen that the neglect of my creative outlets while not outright hindering me in any way has also done nothing to help me. Therefore I'm set on maintaining a somewhat consistent if not totally regular return to photography, as well as a more focused consideration on why what catches my eye does so

I'd set out on my bike earlier tonight to snap some photos and hadn't gone far before this paint store caught my eye. The more melodramatic part of me may have seen myself reflected in this building. Blue, somewhat alight, standing on it's own while the other shops and restaurants nearby were brightly lit, colourful, shared structures. But the more practical, literal and I guess somewhat cynical part of me was too focused on the aesthetic distinction from the other buildings nearby to pay any attention to that idea at the time

"If there is anything I seek is this. The calm. If there is God or something Higher for me it is this. the calm. If there is something that will hold me when I need to hold it is the calm. There is no anger, no rage, no Fury. There is no want no need no desire. There is no hatred no shame no regret. There is no grief, no sadness, no depression. There is no fear. Absolutely no fear. When one lives without fear, one cannot be broken. When one lives with fear one is broken before one beings to live. The calm I feel right now. What is it?"

Calming herbal tea recipe :

4 parts chamomile flowers

2 parts Kaffir lime leaves (torn)

2 parts rose petals

Mix all the dried herbs together and store

in an airtight container in a dark place.

Use 1 teaspoon of tea mix for 200 ml

of freshly boiled water and steep for 5 to 10 minutes.

Enjoy !

I prefer this tea as is, if you wish

you can add a touch of honey for sweetness.

You can substitute lime leaves for dried lemongrass

or dried lemon balm.

How long time does it take to calm down?

About:

The water in this canal was pretty calm, but It still took me 240 seconds to erase all movement in the water :) This is the Skansen Bridge spanning the entrance to the west canal in the center of Trondheim City in Norway, check the map for details.

The bridge was constructed in 1918 and was designed by Joseph B. Strauss, who also designed the Golden Gate Bridge spanning the opening of the San Francisco Bay.

Thanks

Comments and critique are as always welcome.

Relaxing day at my beach. Building it up again and relaxing in the lounger :D HAH :D

My attention, was focused and calm. The fog was lifting from the surrounding forest and water. My calm would soon by filled with tasks.

This is one of the last photos I took before my wife went in to hospital earlier this year. That's also the reason I've been quieter than normal here for many months. Early in the year, Alli was diagnosed with cancer. Since then she's been through numerous tests, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, etc. It's been a hugely difficult time for both of us, but thankfully Alli is making very good progress and recovering well, thanks to the brilliant people at the hospitals, and also to her own strength and bravery. She is amazing.

This picture was taken during an impromptu break in Dorset which we did to mark the end of a key phase in Alli's treatment. We took a drive down to Lulworth Cove after a meal and found the calmest of scenes. The tide was high and the mist thick, and ghostly moored boats slipped in and out of view on the still water.

Stuck in a rut photographically - spent 3 hours in the moonlight and this was all I got :(
