Some Calla Lillies that I bought this week.
I love lillies - I know they're normally associated with funerals and death, but I think the range and beauty you find with them makes them too special to be linked only to the bad things in life.
Now that the weather (in the UK at least) is getting better, buy yourself, or get someone else to buy, a bunch of Stargazer lillies and put them by an open window while you spring clean - your whole house will have a great scent.
Located near our front door. I have these planted across the front of the house and they come into bloom as the Blue Danube Azaleas, also across the front, are near the last of their blooming.
Zantedeschia is a genus of eight species of herbaceous perennial flowering plants in the family Araceae, native to southern Africa from South Africa north to Malawi. The genus has been introduced on all continents except Antarctica. Common names include arum lily for Z. aethiopica, calla, and calla lily for Z. elliottiana and Z. rehmannii although it is neither a true lily (Liliaceae), nor an Arum or a Calla (related genera in Araceae). The colourful flowers and leaves are highly valued, and both species and cultivars are widely used as ornamental plants.
