Zantedeschia, usually called calla or arum lily( when white), they are not a true lily.

It is named after Italian botanist Francesco Zantedeschia.

The Zantedeschia species are poisonous due to the presence of calcium oxalate.

All parts of the plant are toxic!

Gotta photograph them when they bloom in the garden

taken at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum...

The calla lily (Zantedeschia) is an elegant plant known for its trumpet-shaped, colorful "blooms" and sword-like green leaves. Despite the name, it is not a true lily but belongs to the arum family (Araceae). The showy part is actually a modified leaf (spathe) wrapping a central spike.

A friend gave me these lovely lilies. I think the name Calla Lily is correct??

If you like to see the details enlarge to see the spadix (I just learned that's what it's called.) It surprised me to see the unique details of it. Another win for macro photography!

Frederic Chopin: "Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art."

This statuesque proud flower did not need anything else...

The pure black and white brings out the structure and shape, no?

Zantedeschia, usually erroneously called Calla or Arum lilies (only when white), they are not a true lily.

Monochromatic? Not really he? All the shades of grey... from a true black to white... as it should be!

I wish you a great day, Magda, (*__*)

a calla and the reflection in a window

This calla lily that I picked from the garden is so special I want to keep it forever. It's really big and it has another tiny calla lily inside of it which I've never seen.

I can't express how much I love callas, I've had a love affair with them forever. Their design is simple yet exquisite, exotic and sexy. I love how they look in b&w.
