on a wednesday the whole crew decided to have a photo session and go to the car show afterwards. got some good shots, i have alot more, and got some good grubb too. was such a fun day, and thank god for lightroom 2.4 8)
This is Front Street (Highway 93). I sure wish it still looked like this. The Blue Front and barber shop are gone, State Cafe became Carl's Burgers and is now closed and the hotel is vacant and in desperate need of repair.

This CWR train was in the siding at the bottom of the grade. In a little bit they would start pulling ahead to lay some rail after the next train.
Caliente, Nevada; the mission revival style depot was built in 1923 by the Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad that later became the Union Pacific Railroad.

The next train to come off the stiff grade was UP 3046 with an intermodal. I think this is the first I've been able to shoot a Tier 4 70ACe leading and so I decided to follow it a ways toward Bakersfield.
