This is one of my favorite cakes I have ever done. It was just fun to do. The mom requested a racetrack cake. I went on line and there were tons of them that inspired me -- thanks all of you out there for that! The little cars are made out of fondant.
Cake for my dear friend Christine's Birthday. Chocolate buttercream cake with Swiss meringue icing, gumpaste roses, fondant accents I had a bit of a problem with the SMI melting while I was trying to smooth it...going to try Italian Meringue next time- I read it was easier to work with.

Yesterday's birthday cake. Officially it's a veganised Boston Cream Pie, but when Jane first tasted it she declared it was 'The Platonic Ideal of Cake' and that's what we call it.

Nearing the end of the 80th birthday party celebration in Missouri, our grandson, Nathaniel, joined us in the motor home. On the 24th of July, I turned 73 and my family threw a little party for me. Vonda took my camera and insisted it was my turn to stand before the lens. It was a fun evening at David's house.

During September we visited Toronto Canada to see John and Rosemary. Then went on to New York City. After that we went to Lancaster in Pennsylvania. Then on to a family wedding in Charlottesville, Virginia. After Jake and Katies wedding we took a trip to Virginia Beach. After that we headed down to Alabama to vist Sara and Douglass before flying home.
