I've been wanting to do a dessert table for ages and I thought it would be perfect to do one for my nephew's Christening day which was on Sunday. There was a lot of work in it but it was well worth.
I told my sister Vivienne I had an idea of doing a nautical theme with a wee boat on top of the cake or I could do a baby elephant/animals theme but I'm so glad she chose the nautical theme!
I really want to do another one now! lol
It all went really well and everyone went home with plenty of goodies.
Table included:
- 2-tier cake: red velvet with vanilla mascarpone filling bottom tier and vanilla pound cake with swiss b/c and raspberry jam top tier
- chocolate cupcakes
- lemon cupcakes
- cranberry and white chocolate cookies
- raspberry & creme fraiche meringues
- wee fruit cups (to freshen the palate amidst all the sweet treats! lol)
- lemon desserts - creamy lemon curd and lemon shortbread layers
- assortment of cake bites - vanilla, red velvet and chocolate
- popcorn and mini eggs
- we popped champers to go in the glasses when everyone arrived
Safe to say a good time was had by all and Arthur was a wee star on the day. X

Since work is so slow, I took a couple of hours this morning so I could stay in and make birthday breakfast. Except, he wasn't in the mood for breakfast. :P So, I had extra time to get my FD done. I think it's the first time I have one posted so early in the day, since I do them on the same Tuesday I post.
And had we had a wide view of what was happening as I did this, you would've seen the Tweedles freak and cry that I was lying on the table w/ cake in my hands. It's like they didn't understand. Haha.. they stopped as soon as I sat back up.

Poker table cake. Chocolate and white cake filled with buttercream. Covered in fondant with handpainted cards and lettering.
Custom cakes by Carrie O at Sweet Pea Bakery. Tiered Red Velvet cake with Cream Cheese frosting. Fancy piping, sugar beads and fresh flower decorations. Sheet cake is Lemon Poppyseed with Lemon Italian Buttercream frosting.
Chalkboard cake with hessian and lace trim and bow. Sugar peonies, roses, sweet peas, hydrangea, lavender and scabious flowers.

A poker table cake for a 40th birthday party. All decorations are fondant, except the cards that are real. The flavours were chocolate cake with oreos 'n cream.

The Cake Table all set up at the venue. The small wedding cake was decorated the same as the main cake and designed to hold the personalised bride and groom.
I didn't get a great photo of my tableskirt. I used 9 yards of irridescent lavender taffeta to make it. All the pleats and hems are hand-stitched. It took me ALL of my free time in July to make this thing. The rhinestones on the sash match a character from my inspiration "Calligraphia Latina" font.
Blueberries in motion over a 5-tiered cake by Carrie O at Sweet Pea Bakery. Set on an ice table which was delivered from Colorado (along with the food and catering crew), in a clear sided tent at a mountain residence with one of the best views in the state. Later there was a huge double rainbow over the whole thing.
