i didn't think it was fair to take logan and not caesar to this place so we went today.

(logan was not happy about being left behind.)

we went earlier so i didn't get the nice reflections on the water but i still think this is nice, considering he doesn't pose like logan does and i can't let him offleash. you can see he's about ready to take off after some geese, LOL

this is two photos stitched together and cross processed, which is a process done in the dark room with film but it can be recreated with digital processing...i just like how it looks.

--------------------------------------

here's how paint shop pro defines it:

cross-process is a modern photography technique that creates uinque colour effects by mismatching the film and chemicals used to develop the film. for example; you can achieve this effect by processing slide film in chemicals designed for colour negative film.

In 1962, cabana motel owners Jay Sarno and Stanley Mallin applied for a $10.6 million loan from the Teamsters Central States Pension Fund. He began plans to build a hotel on land owned by Kirk Kerkorian. Sarno would later act as designer of the hotel he planned to construct. His vision was to emulate life under the Roman Empire. The objective of the palace was to ensure an atmosphere in which everybody staying at the hotel would feel like a Caesar; this is why the name "Caesars Palace" lacks an apostrophe, making "Caesars" a plural instead of possessive noun. Caesars Palace was instrumental in beginning a new era of lavish casinos from the late 1960s onward. The original hotel was designed by architect Melvin Grossman (1914–2003), who had worked primarily in Miami. The design of Caesars borrowed heavily from Grossman's Cabaña Hotel (1962) in Palo Alto. Architectural writer, Alan Hess, stated: "Caesars Palace needed only a sumptuous array of Classical statuary and a host of marble-white columns to establish its theme. The visitor's imagination, in league with well-placed publicity, filled in the opulence". Jefferson Graham wrote that the result was "the gaudiest, weirdest, most elaborate, and most talked about resort Vegas had ever seen. [Its] emblem was a chesty female dipping grapes into the waiting mouth of a recumbent Roman, fitted out in toga, laurel wreath, and phallic dagger".

Caesar found a comfy seat.

The flood control dam is 165' high and 2750' long. Operated by the Army Corp of Engineers. Hiking trails, wildflower fields, picnic areas, a swimming beach and boat launches dot the area. It's a great public use area with knowledgeable staff at the museum and visitor's area. Pioneer Village with it's maple syrup festival is a big attraction.

Located near Capitoline Hill, just behind the Victor Emmanuel II Monument, is the Forum of Caesar, or Forum Caesaris.

It was built by Julius Caesar in 46 BC as an expansion to the Roman Forum. It included a Temple of Venus Genetrix, the patron goddess of his family/clan (the Julia gens). Three columns of the temple remain standing.

The Via dei Fori Imperiali can be seen along the far left.

The church in the background on the right is Santi Luca e Martina; it was built in the 17th Century.

With all the rain of the past few weeks, shrooms have been popping up all over. Unfortunately, most of them have been of the old drab brown type that you'd just as soon not see. Occasionally, though, I get a few of these red ones, and go running for the camera...^+^

Have a good week, all...

btw, if any of you might know the ID for this colorful shroom, please let me know...^+^ Thanks, Mark.B, for the ID...Amanita caesarea

When you come to MCS knowing what time the light is truly dramatic, you get shots like these. I’d really like to come during the summer evening instead of my usual morning routine to see what other beauties the light may reveal. I took this after running into about three groups of people even though it was 8am… that is the most I’ve ever run into. During my many treks to this place I’ve never encountered anyone, but the recent press is making this place a hot bed of activity. The cops sure are gonna love all the fresh meat for fines!
