This model is based on one of my all time favorite vehicles, the VW Caddy Mk1 pickup. This variant of the Mk1 Golf was love at first sight for me as a kid. I always had an eye for them, and much later in life a neighbor down the street had a similar work truck (with an LS V8 swap!). Searching for what to build next, the inspiration took over.
I built this Mk1 Caddy as a bumper-free model often seen in the VW tuner community. The stance is nice and low, but not too slammy as it is a work truck after all. A slightly janky wood-plank roof rack and wood-plank bed round out the look along with some fresh and springy plantings headed outbound to an eager customer.
A lovingly installed color-contrast driver door (with built-in primer feature) was recently donated by a local junkyard to really announce that the owner of this niche beater is, in fact, living upscale in all aspects of her life :)
On the detailing front, graphic inserts were employed for the headlights and tails, a custom printed VW grille logo features up front, and personalized plates at both ends dial in the unique look and feel of this Gardener’s faithful steed.
I hope you enjoy!

Now on SORN, although it has a healthy amount of MoT left on it - maybe they just keep it for summer use?
Mileage has been going up quite slowly in recent years, but it saw a fair bit of use at some point as it's now done over 175,000 miles.
Seen and photographed on a Vancouver-area Four Thirds Photographers photowalk with Chun, Daniel, Evan, Herman, Hubert, Kyle and Mikhail. Marine Garage, Moncton Street, Steveston, Richmond, BC. shot on expired 65mm kodak 5219 motion picture film slit to 61mm. Shot at ISO 400 and hand held.
Shot with Pentax 67 6x7 and Pentax 67 55mm Wide Angle lens.
I mistakenly processed this as B&W thinking it was Holga 400 (I was tired). imagine my surprise when I poured out the developer expecting green water and I got black water. I thought maybe I'd developed K 100 instead. After I finished I started washing and realized it was remjet! Ugh I had to clean the film and I was processing another role at the same time.
All done, I had B&W from Acu-1 developer 1:5 for 7 minutes at 70 degrees f.
After drying I redid it as color using Kodak pub 31 printing color After developing as B&W.
wash, bleach in c41 bleach (NOT blix) for 4 minutes, wash. reexpose/fog for 2 minutes in white light/flood light, redevelop as C-41. ( Xpro for this ECN 2 film).
color dev 3:20, quick rinse, bleach for 8 minutes, wash, color fix (home made ammonium thiosulfate fixer) 5 minutes.

Another CL Caddy shot taken in Aberystwyth on the 26th of June 1970.
A Bristol SC4LK of Crosville's again but this time a bus version. 242SFM or SSG669 had an ECW B35F body and was new in February 1961. I originally thought the advert was for Fish but it is actually extolling the virtue of a local bookmaker.
