I found a couple of telephone trucks in the park and did a quick, unofficial photo shoot. I was just lined up on the best shot of all when they pulled out.
Anything but flowers. lol

The only way to cross the river before the UK funded bridge was built. Eight people died recently when a similar cable car fell into the Indus River in northern Pakistan - the metallic rope it was mounted on snapped. The improvised crossing had been built in 2010 after flood waters destroyed the local bridge.
This reminded me of the children being told in school to "Take a line for a walk" as the starting point for a design! Throw-away abstract.
It's surprisingly simple to connect two male toslink cable ends without a coupler. So long as they're lined up well enough, it works like a charm!
Headphone Cable Breaks
To make the cable have the ability to wrap over the top of your ear, Ultimate Ears placed a metal wire in the cable. After about four months the plastic coating becomes brittle and the wire breaks through. I've been through about five cables. (Luckly the headphone cable is easily replaced.) After the last cable broke I switched to the Apple in-ear w/ mic and remote and haven't had any issues with the cables, but the sound isolation isn't as good.
If the cable wasn't crap I'd rate these headphones about a 7.5. The sound quality is good; could use a little more bass. Also the sound isolation is really good.
A concept has been rattling around in my brain for awhile now...Cables Meet Spring. This is a snippet of my progress on my design...looking forward to revealing the finished project and the unexpected way the cables end up!
Commemorative plaque on The Cable House, Promenade, Newbiggin by the Sea, Northumberland. Shame about the grammar.
The Great Northern Telegraph Company's submarine cable from Marstrand, Sweden, came ashore just east of here at The Point.
The Cable House closed in 1960 when telegraphy operations ceased.

The cables on my desk at work, conveniently hidden behind a monitor where I can't see them. Rendered as a pseudo-fractal.
The other big building left on site was this large dockside shed. There were several of these big pits where presumably the cables would have been wound up. If you followed the tunnels and channels in the floor you could still see where the cables would have run out over rollers onto waiting ships docked in the estuary..
Constructed from an XLR plug and an iPod shuffle USB cable, this will
allow me to use nicer microphones for recording in the field with
Voice Memos or other apps.
Cable car 15 leaves the Barn for its inagural run. The original 15 was built in 1894 and retired a few years ago and would have been painted in the same color scheme used 1894-1902 by the original Market Street Railway Company.
