cwd1162: Pattern ~ From the suggestion thread (thanks de faria). Open to interpretation. This one scares me a little as I fear boring snapshots of old quilts. :-) As always, the goal is to create something interesting!
For 'Take a class with Dave & Dave': Week 127 - Assignment 1. 3D Redux.
1. Stare through the computer screen, not focusing on the images of the flower.
2. As you stare harder, you will see the two flowers start coming together as a 3rd image in-between them.
3. Once they are perfectly lined up as that center 3rd image, shift your focus to it. It will appear 3D.
4. Gasp in wonder and amazement.

This is probably the most obvious idea for the baseball assignment, but the only other thing that we have in the house that is baseball related is a copy of Bull Durham!
I decided to use this assignment to practise doing a portrait. I'm useless at explaining what I need the the other person to do. I'm going on a day long course in a weeks time - hopefully I'll get a few clues.

Since everything here is flashy and a little bit cheesy, that is what I was going for with my postcard. This was the first time I've used Photoshop, so forgive the simplicity.
It almost makes Boralesgamuwa look interesting.
i debated whether taking a picture of a picture should really qualify as "taking a picture" because there isn't much in the way of composition, besides i guess lighting and how i crop it. but i just love this little ad.

I like the little dude hanging down from the top left. He looks like a poor little loner that all the others are picking on... the last pedaled flower probably the biggest bully, pressuring all the other kids to pick on him...

From wikipedia: Abstract art is now generally understood to mean art that does not depict objects in the natural world, but instead uses color and form in a non-representational way. You are free to create your abstraction entirely in-camera, in post-processing, or as a combination of the two.
This is a very high tech arrangement of a flashlight and the ivy plant my roommate gave to me in Marshfield. Somehow, it continues to thrive. I also have a version in color.
Low Key B&W ~ We've done high key a few times and low key once (almost 100 weeks ago), but we haven't done low key with a black & white restriction. For low key images, the majority of the pixels should be toward the black end of your levels meter. Just a splash of light here and there should define your subject.
Assignment 1. High key. The "key" of an image describes the nature of the tones presented. In a High key image most of the tones will be brighter than middle gray. Bright background, bright subject, and the dark tones take on a supernatural power to highlight what you want to show. Tag with cwd151.
I personally like my other attempt at high key better (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/214/480105132_a5308d2113_b.jpg), but I do like how the human is almost lost in this photo.
