These are sumac leaves that have dried into a curled shape and dressed up in their autumn colour. I'm sure that these leaves would've fallen within a day or so after this image was taken.

What drew me to take this image was the dark long haired curl at the top of the top of the sunflower. I shot this is the most harshest of light around noon today in about 95 degree heat. I ended up darkening the surroundings completely to void it of all the daylight bluebird skies.

These massive bushes were on the side of the road as I drove past, so I immediately turned around and took a photo of them.

As i sat on the hill, talking the day away with my brother (butterflies were around but quickly flapping in the opposite direction) I noticed this green thing on a seed head. Turned out to be a caterpillar. Two stacked shot.

The CA coast has had some big surf on the south facing beaches the last few days.
