NEW YORK--Army National Guard Command Sgt. Major Brunk Conley visits with Soldiers of the New York Army National Guard who are deployed as part of the response to Hurricane Sandy. ( NYG Warrant Officer Ubon Mendie)

A few weeks before this visit we passed by this factory and stopped to have a look. All the high security that we had encountered on our visit a year ago was gone. We could just walk in.

Work has begon in the factory itself - all the machines on the first floor have been pulled out already.

So on a sunday morning a took a train and a bus and a paid a last visit to this beautiful location.

Command Sgt. Maj. Michael D. Schultz, the Army Reserve's top noncommissioned officer, speaks to competitors, sponsors and cadre at the no-host social July 15 at the 2012 U.S. Army Reserve Best Warrior Competition at Fort McCoy, Wis. Schultz said that with the Army's focus on getting back to basic Soldier skills, competitions like this are important in spreading a foundation for those skills throughout the Army Reserve's ranks. “For some of them, this is really the first time they get to be part of something this big, and they're really going to see what right looks like,” he said. “The biggest portion of this is taking what they've learned here back to their units and show the other Soldiers in their units what they've learned.” (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Jacob Boyer, USARC PAO)
