The BMW 3.0 CSL “Batmobile” intially had the same 3.0 liter engine as the CS, but they added 0.25 mm to the cylinder bore so that the car could compete in the over three liter racing class. That allowed BMW to later make the engine even bigger (3153 cc) by increasing the stroke. The full aero package seen here is the final version, produced in 1973, and sold with the big rear wing stowed in the trunk because those were illegal in Germany.

A 3.0 CSL won the European Touring Car Championship in 1973, and won again — every year from 1975 to 1979. They made 1265 CSLs, with none sold to the USA.

Last weekend a friend and I got together and did photography stuff. I was able to capture this portrait of him.

We had an overcast day with a large window, I put him next to it, a black backdrop behind him and then put my flash with a 45 degree grid behind him aimed at the back drop to create some separate so he wasn't just a floating head.

I used some photoshop trickery to change the background light to blue because it didn't occur to me to slap a blue gel on the flash.
