7334 is one of 50 of the 73 class built by Walkers limited at Maryborough with 7334 entering service in July 1972.
only 11 of the 50 have been scrapped with many operating with private owners including being rebuilt into sugar cane locos

Closeup of the CRT itself. I'd like to drive this from a normal composite video source (50Hz/625 line in my case) to make a tiny computer display. Clearly, the CRT is magnetically deflected (note the blue and yellow wires to the deflection coils).

The P2 phosphor looks a lot like the P1 but the persistence is longer. It also lights up like crazy when you shine UV on it.

Younger people probably wouldn't know what these are. The CRT token on the left survived deep into the CTA era in use at a park n' ride lot somewhere. The CTA token on right was standard in the 80's. I used to buy tokens by the roll at Jewel Foods to take the 203 bus to Evanston High School.
