Cross in a cemetery in Seattle WA. This is the same cemetery where Bruce and Brandon Lee are buried.
This picture looks like someone is sitting down with their legs crossed. It's like you would be looking down at them while they are sitting there. Step back and look.

Holy Angels at Hoar Cross is simply one of the very finest churches of it's date, a real tour de force of late Victorian architecture by architect George Frederick Bodley dating mostly from 1872-6. I'd always wanted to see Bodley's masterpiece so when the opportunity came up with an ex employer offering me a lift there whilst he did a survey I couldn't resist; of course this meant scaffolding would be covering a fair amount up, but if you've got access to that scaffold it's actually a major advantage!
Sometimes churches can disappoint if you're over familiar with photos of them before you visit, but this wasn't the case here, it's a truly superb church, incredibly ornate and beautifully crafted, internally it is a close relative of Bodley's Clumber Chapel. The chancel is the climax, with it's vaulted ceiling and walls encrusted with niches and statuary, all in rich red/pink stone. The only drawback is having to rely on artificial lighting, you can hardly see a thing in there without it! The stained glass is entirely the work of Burlison & Grylls and fills every window..
Some beautiful woodwork and fine tombs of Lord and Lady Meynell (the latter the builder of the church in memory of the former) in the chapels flanking the chancel. I believe the chancel is often locked and many visitors have to gaze longingly through the screen, a real pity as the best parts of the building lie beyond it and a visit would be so much the poorer without being to access these areas.
The external scaffolding covered most of the chancel so whilst I missed the overall intended effect, I did get up close and personal with numerous gargoyles and statues normally only seen at a distance. Alas the shadows cast by the scaffolding boards meant it was next to impossible to get good images of much of the stained glass inside.
Another shot of the church I visited for some photos last week,
this time a cross on the gable end of the roof, with the sun behind
it. As something of a fan of vignettes, it was nice not to have to
add this one in post-processing; it is 100% natural. This takes, I
think, my personal record for brightest subject photographed. What a
claim to fame.

"Village cross. C15. Tapered stone shaft on square base with chamfered angles
and standing on two steps. Elaborate head with cusped embellishments to cross,
which depicts the Crucifixion on one face, the Virgin and Child on the other.
Scheduled Ancient Monument. Repositioned, having been moved from a nearby site."

Sigo siendo agnóstico, pero eso no quita que aprecie estas cosas que encuentras en las iglesias. Aqui en Atocpan.

I lived around here from 1977 to 1982/6 - I went to college in 1982, and the house was sold in 1986, about ten minutes before the first round of property price insanity began.
Not much has changed - there are more shiny plastic signs and more evidence of corporate sponsorship all over the place, and more estate agents.

A view of the ceiling at the Crossness Pumping station in South London. This central feature has some beautiful decorative iron work. The station is currently being slowly restored to its former glory and it is open to the public a few times a year.
It's well worth a visit if you can put up with the smell of the nearby sewage works.
Made with magnesite cross shaped slabs and some great czech glass beads that have the look of old trade beads.
A pretty whitetail doe paused above me, waiting for her nearly grown fawn to catch up. As a naturalist I don't just see a deer. I see a prairie sky, Eastern red cedar, Blackjack oaks, a hickory tree and grasses. A small vignette of the Cross Timbers that I was privileged to witness and record.
RAW, PS Elements.
Since I can remember I've gone to the Tulsa Philharmonic with my grandmother, who is now 87 and still attending. This was from the last concert. :)
On Hayes Bridge Road. A grade 2 listed building with a magnificent tiled frontage. Built in 1849 as The Shield & Newcastle Tavern. It became the Golden Cross in 1863.
At the south end of the Skeleton Coast and a couple of hours north of Swakopmund , Namibia is the Cape Cross seal colony, a seething, smelly, screeching, barking, squabbling mass of between 100,000 and 200,000 seals.
In 1486 Portuguese Diego Cáo landed here and erected a stone cross in honour of John II of Portugal. It is quite a desolate place unless you are a seal, in which case you would thrive on the abundant fish supply and undisturbed surroundings.
Fragment of a 10th Century Viking + Anglo Saxon Jellinge Cross in St Andrew's Church at Middleton near Pickering. During the conflicts between Danes and Saxons, Danish lords incorporated local Christian iconography into sculptures as a display of their military power.
