Cosmic flowers live for millions of years producing, literally, a sea of seeds, all awaiting some global cataclysm to send them out among the stars in hopes of finding a new planet on which to take root.

The cosmic trio of the three brightest objects in the sky can be seen here forming a triangle in the sky. In the picture you can see Venus (the sister planet of Earth), Jupiter (the biggest planet of our solar system) and last crescent Moon of the lunar cycle (this moon forms a very thin crescent just before the sunrise which makes it too hard to spot) forming a beautiful right angled triangle.

A4, liquid glazing paint
This is the second painting of the new series of Early Paintings.
The picture shows Purusha, the cosmic person. Since 1974, when I started meditation, changed my studies from economy to philosophy and Romance languages, I had been increasingly immersed myself into eastern thought and cosmology. Having become a meditation teacher in the TM-movement of Maharishi in Oct 1977 I first was active in the TM-centre of Münster, Germany. In 1978 I shifted for post-graduate studies to Freiburg, Germany, where I immediately got the task of being the head of the TM-Centre there, which was then being named as Academy of Vedic Science.
During 3 years, until I left Freiburg in 1981, I was head of the centre, besides my studies. I had been diving into meditation as well as into Vedic lore. When I first came into contact with the Great Invocation given by Master DK, I experienced a tremendous inpour of energies finding an expression in the series of pictures painted "in fire". So this one is the second fiery painting. Like the other paintings it was done quite fast and in a kind of rapture.
I had painted in a searching style during the 70ies, influenced by psychedelics and surrealism, but dissolved all these pictures in the 80ies. Now I felt full of fiery energy and wanted to express this inner intensity.
With a commission specifically designed for this gallery Spencer Finch brings the starry sky indoors with a constellation of 350 light fixtures. “Cosmic Latte” refers to the official name given to the average color of the universe, which -- in a 2009 study of the light emitted by 200,000 galaxies -- was determined to be more beige than what had traditionally been thought of as blue. The artist represents this tannish-white color with LED light bulbs of various sizes. The groupings model the atomic molecules of powdered pigments that Finch used to emulate the specific Cosmic Latte hue: titanium white, Mars yellow, chrome yellow, and a bit of cadmium red.
Arranged to mimic the gently arching shape of the Milky Way as it is observed in the Northern Hemisphere in March, the undulating swathe of lights also relates to the Hoosic River visible through the windows. In Japan and China, the Milky Way is called the "river of the heavens" and "river of the sky." Like many of Finch's works the installation presents an alternative notion of representation -- one that is simultaneously scientific and symbolic.

Mother [Ganga] you girdle the earth and thereby lend it grace and beauty . You are the pathway, bedecked with banners of victory , to heaven . My only prayer to you is that I may live on your bank, watch your waves, repeat your name in my heart forever and die with my eyes fixed on you.

No, unfortunately this isn't an actual page in Kerrang! magazine haha.
It is however a page for my newest college project on "Editorial Photography". We were told to select a publication out of i-D, Wonderland or Kerrang! and of course I jumped at the chance to recreate a magazine that I grew up around. We were also given a list of three themes, told to pick one and interpret it however we wanted. I decided I wanted to re-create the 'introducing' pages of the magazine.
Cosmic Anomoly contacted me via twitter about my project and was enthusiastic about taking part. On the 20th of April 2011, he confirmed his place as one of the musicians taking part in the project and we planned the shoot for the 9th of May. I only took 11 photographs at the shoot but out of those 11, all of them were practically spot on. The thing that really sold this photo to me was the flare (Yeah, it's not photoshopped..)
I asked good friend Claire Peacock to write the article to accompany the image to make it look like a page out of the magazine.
