Scientists of the European Southern Observatory in Chile, on the other hand, introduce us to the “cold universe”. The visible portion of the cosmos is explained by Dietmar Hager (AT), an astrophotographer who’s certainly the right man for this job.

This cat face is an original sculpture created by me, Jane. It is OOAK (One-Of-A-Kind) and there is no other just like it! The Cosmic Cat has many colors and hues in his twisty, stripey white fur that seems almost hypnotic!! This must be an Alien Cat! His light blue and gold eyes are lined with black.
The Cosmic Cat's eyes are created from clear glass cabochons that I have backed with a shimmery blue and gold to give them depth and expression.
This original sculpture easily hangs upon the wall and makes a unique home decor. A little jewel for your wall!

I realize that as I upload these older pictures that I didn't really have the concept of concept photography (haha!). That's about all I think of now when I take pictures, but looking back on these I realize there weren't very many stories or concepts behind them. It was mostly my brain coming up with images and strictly visual ideas that I would then try to replicate on camera. It was less about telling a story and more about sharing an image that someone else could make their own story to.
In light of all that, this photo is seriously one of my favorites. It turned out so well. It features my best friend Julia Takemura as my absolute favorite model. She is a goddess.

In Islam, minarets broadcast the call to prayer. Cosmic Praise, while perhaps evoking a similar spiritual response, primarily seeks to issue a “call to curiosity” inviting those entering to ponder the mind-expanding depths of the Universe. Our lives are perpetually bathed in a rain of sub-atomic particles passing through our selves, our homes & deep into the Earth. The sources of these cosmic rays are enormously energetic processes in distant parts of the Universe. Ordinarily invisible, but with a spark chamber they can be seen. This stunning physical realization of Galactic phenomena inspires a range of emotions. Awe, amazement, insignificance & even fear are felt as the viewer ponders their place in the Cosmos. Perhaps, returning from contemplation of the distant reaches of our Galaxy, their view will turn inward, reconnecting with their humanity & the Universe of thought & emotion that lies within. Cosmic Praise indeed.
