Richard Wagner’s Oper Parsifal
Als Nichtiger kehrt er heim, als Mensch, der keine Rolle mehr spielt, sondern nur noch der ist, der er ist.
Ein Pilger, ein Nomade, ein Heimatloser aber auch ein Freier.
Als Parsifal in das heilige Gralsgebiet zurückkehrt, weiß er, dass er nichts ist.
Als Niemand – doch zum Unterschied seines ersten Aufenthaltes im Gralsgebiet als Jugendlicher – als durch seinen Gang durch Zeit und Raum wissend gewordener Mensch, als Weiser kehrt er ins Gralsgebiet zurück.
Als ich diesen Mann sah und fotografierte dachte ich sofort an Parsifal, an seine Pilgerschaft und Suche nach dem heiligen Gral. Ich fühlte mich ihm und allen bewussten und unbewussten Gralssuchern verbunden. Wie viel weiß dieser Mann über sich und seinen Weg? Mir kam er weise vor. Vielleicht nicht an Worten, doch von seiner Ausstrahlung her.
Mit diesem Bild möchte ich die Wanderer und Grenzgänger ehren. Menschen die nicht in der Gesellschaft sesshaft werden können und konnten und nur ihrer inneren Stimme folgen…

D.: Is that Light like sunlight?
M.: No. The sunlight is jada (insentient). You are aware of it. It makes objects perceptible and chases away darkness, whereas consciousness is that Light which makes not only light but also darkness perceptible. Darkness cannot exist before sunlight, but it can remain in the Light of Consciousness. Similarly, this consciousness is pure Knowledge in which both knowledge and ignorance shine.

It took me a long time and a lot of funny looks to get this shot. This fella was like a rock right up until I snapped the shutter and he shrugged his shoulder. I actually think it adds a little more character to the shot.
