“Electronic consciousness and the transhuman revolution renders infinite possibilities for the future as man merges with machines."- James Scott, Senior Fellow, ICIT and CCIOS
#Cyborg #singularity #transhumanism #robots #NoLimits #DeepLearning

Permanent Post Vacation
Rowan Moyle
Opening Tuesday 20 November 6-8pm
Tuesday 20 November – Saturday 8 December 2012
Permanent Post Vacation is an ongoing project exploring the discrepancy between our spatial experience of cities at home and overseas, as solitary backpackers and as integrated locals. I am interested in the interstitial space between arrival and settlement. The point before we fall back into the general flow of everyday life, where travel becomes more or less limited to commutation and innocent exploration is construed as loitering or time-wasting. Responding to personal feelings associated with post-travel, this project culminates in spatial interventions, walks, and other coping strategies aimed to invoke feelings of the uncanny and unfamiliar within my everyday environment.
Rowan Moyle is an emerging artist working with diverse materials and methodologies. Rowan completed a Bachelor of Visual Art and a Bachelor of Arts at Monash University in 2010. In 2011 he was awarded the Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Award and extensively travelled throughout Japan and India. Returning to Australia in 2012, he has begun exhibiting in artist-run initiatives across Melbourne including Seventh and Platform, and has been able to utilise his recent travel experiences to provide insight into his practice and collaborative projects as a member of ACAB Collective. Rowan is currently completing a Graduate Diploma of Education at Monash University.
Inferno: A Reinterpretation of Dante
Steve Cox
Opening Tuesday 20 November 6-8pm
20 November – 8 December, 2012
Steve Cox presents a body of work reinterpreting this marvelous epic poem from the thirteenth-century, which is contained in Dante’s Divine Comedy. The text describes Dante’s journey through the nine circles of Hell. Each region contains its own specific horrors and monsters.
In a series of over sixty new works Cox re-imagines these grotesqueries and updates them to give a contemporary flavour. Dante’s rich descriptions and wild invention are perfect subject matter for Cox, who is well-known for the often black humour in his work.
The exhibition extends Cox’s interest in stream-of-consciousness pictorial invention. The works showcase his expertise with watercolour, ink and collage and, in a recent development, digital imagery.
Inferno has inspired many artists over the centuries, including William Blake, Gustave Doré and Robert Rauschenberg. Artists have continually found contemporary relevance in the text and have each brought their personal observations to the task.
As an atheist, Cox’s idea of Hell is as a useful metaphor not to be taken literally. He includes references to the marginalised, the displaced, and the outcast: all of whom have been forced to travel through their own personal Hell on earth. He has made reference to the never-ending hell of war on earth. He has also been delighted by the monstrous creatures that have emerged by chance through the fluidity of ink and watercolour.
Man’s inhumanity to man is perennial and no less current today than in Dante’s time. For Cox, this subject-matter has enabled him to create an Underworld populated by creatures if the Id. This will be his first Melbourne exhibition since 2010.
Supported by the City of Melbourne through the Arts Grants Program.

Photographing this show was AMAZING. Seriously. GROUPLOVE's lighting was out of this world - some of, if not THE, best lighting I've ever worked with. Saints of Valory and The Knocks also put on really fun sets, which was totally unexpected for me and made me really happy to get to photograph. The best part was that although I hadn't been cleared for a portrait shoot or interview, GROUPLOVE let me take a quick portrait of them after their show, and their guitarist gave me quite a long interview, too. I'd HIGHLY recommend checking them out, especially live. They are an absolute BLAST to watch and listen to, and put so much energy into their performance that I sometimes felt out of breath just from watching!

is not something that can be brought into or out of existence.
It is not something you can possess or lose.
Consciousness is the means by which you feel you can possess or lose.
It is without birth or death, it is the means by which all things are in existence.

2014 - WELCOME FROM ELSEWHENCE
We all come from some other place, but in this vessel we journey together across space, time and consciousness.
Elsewhence has become the leading family reunion of Colorado friends since 2014. During this
Anthropocene epoch, an escape to the wild helps humans relish the ancient ways but with a modern
twist. It’s an intimate gathering numbering in the hundreds of attendees; a urbanwildland family
camping, music and collaborative outdoor arts experience held in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
The three day big family camping trip, held the third weekend of September in Park County, Colorado,
was birthed as an alternative to the dogmatic bureaucracy that is woven into the fiber of Burning Man
culture. It’s not an official burner event but it’s attended by burners. Elsewhence is a community, not
corporate sponsorship or a quasi-cult of people like Burning Man burners who take but don't give. It’s
not a burn. It’s not a Colorado Regional Burn like, say, the wildly popular overcrowded, pretentious,
overrated, laughable elite Apogaea. Don’t burner my Elsewhence oh no no.
Elsewhence is not sanctioned by BMORG, but is comprised of many older burners who wanted to start
something new without all of the rules, standards, expectations, sponsored or restricted ridiculousness
of the BMORG.
Elsewhence follows 11 Principles: radical inclusion, gifting, decommodification, radical self-reliance,
radical self-expression, communal effort, civic responsibility, leaving no trace, participation, immediacy
and consent.
It’s “an experiential forum that celebrates creativity, participation and unconventional thinking,” says
the Elsewhence website. Sort of like a thematic art party. No spectators! Participants only. It takes place
at Fhloston Peak, on 20 acres of the 1,600+ Berger Land Company property off County Road 68, south of
Bailey, Colorado. It is a beautiful place. A magical place.
Everyone who attends is required to volunteer at least one shift during the weekend. There are many
people who fill important volunteer leads in medical, Department of Public Works, Ranger, fire, gate,
MOOP (Matter Out of Place) trash patrol, greeters, tickets, art grants, sound, stage, performance
aspects, permits, ticketing and accounting. About 242 people attend the first peaceful 2014 ‘Leave No
Trace’ event. ‘Leave No Trace’ means participants will pack in, and pack out, all necessary food, supplies,
trash and water.
The earliest Elsewhence was a grand, intimate and wonderful event. It continues to be. It is a celebration
of us. According to Elsewhence, “We all come from some other place, but in this vessel we journey
together across space, time and consciousness.”
Tickets are a hot commodity. The event has maxed out at 500 participants.
