These were the intended headshots for Mary's session, which ended up leading to the scary ones!
Strobist: I changed my usual set up for headshots bcos client wanted a bit of shadow/drama (a la Victorian Gothic) to showcase her hair. So I side-lit (unusual for beauty shot of young ladies) to add texture. Key is an AB600 with an octo on camera right (about 4'o'clock and just out of frame) at about f5. Hair light is a CTO-gelled AB400 with small shoot-thru umbrella, about a half stop brighter. I filled the shadows with a silver reflector in front-left. Background is lit with a gridded AB-400 from camera left, aimed behind her head.
If I was to shoot it again, I would have added a gridded frontal light to highlight the face... oh well, you learn!

I re-bodied this doll with a Fashion Royalty body that I purchased from Integrity Toys. I like the basic dolls but they are not fully articulated.

I was down at the exhibition today. One of the guys thought it'd be cool to set up a whiteboard (read as a piece of used MDF painted with left over paint costing £2 and take shots of some of our visitors.
It's been a great success and I wanted to finally have a go at it myself today. Really good fun and it's interesting what you can achieve with willing subjects and a bit of painted MDF!!!

Her dress is really cute and i love the fact that they gave her boots. The length of her hair is also really nice!
Anemones must open up fully and show off their true colours in order to prosper. If they do not they won't be able to attract their prey and if this happens they will starve. We can all take a valuable lesson from this as if we in turn try to open up and be different we all have the ability to thrive.
