The girls are feeling very confident to carry on the year having achieved their January goals. The gut healthy food and extra mindful activities they have undertaken helped get the year off to a great start. We're rather relieved the no spend promise was just for a month though :)

In this fourth shot of the elegant duo I met at Parco Talenti, the white Standard Poodle finally takes center stage. While the black companion turns away for a moment, the white one steps forward onto the path with a confident, almost cheerful expression—tongue out, ears relaxed, and clearly enjoying the attention.
Standard Poodles have a reputation for elegance, and it’s easy to see why. With their curly coats, long legs, and distinctive posture, they almost look like living sculptures. Yet, despite their refined appearance, they remain energetic, curious, and full of personality—qualities that become obvious the moment they start interacting with their owner or exploring the park.
What I liked about this scene was the natural contrast: the white poodle in the foreground catching the light, the black one just behind creating a darker silhouette, both connected by the bright red leash held by their owner. A simple moment during a walk, but visually quite striking.
Sometimes photography in a city park offers unexpected subjects—today it happened to be a pair of very photogenic poodles enjoying their afternoon outing.

In questo quarto scatto della elegante coppia incontrata a Parco Talenti, il barbone bianco di grande mole (Standard Poodle) diventa il vero protagonista. Mentre il compagno nero si gira per un momento dall’altra parte, quello bianco avanza sul sentiero con un’espressione sicura e quasi sorridente—lingua fuori, orecchie rilassate e tutta l’aria di chi si sta godendo la passeggiata.
I barboni hanno una reputazione di grande eleganza, e non è difficile capirne il motivo. Con il loro mantello riccio, le lunghe zampe e la postura molto particolare, sembrano quasi delle piccole sculture viventi. Eppure, dietro questo aspetto raffinato si nasconde un cane vivace, curioso e pieno di personalità—cosa che si nota subito quando interagiscono con il proprietario o con l’ambiente del parco.
Quello che mi ha colpito in questa scena è il contrasto naturale: il barbone bianco in primo piano illuminato dalla luce, quello nero appena dietro che crea una silhouette più scura, entrambi collegati dal guinzaglio rosso acceso tenuto dal loro proprietario. Un momento semplice di una passeggiata, ma visivamente molto interessante.
A volte fotografare in un parco cittadino regala soggetti inaspettati—oggi è toccato a una coppia di barboni decisamente fotogenici durante la loro uscita pomeridiana. 📷🐩

In captivity lions often breed every year, but in the wild they usually breed no more than once in two years. Females are receptive to mating for three or four days within a widely variable reproductive cycle. After a really long time I walked with my camera in Lagos. It wasn't long before I spotted these kids playing in this three wheeler (Keke Marwa). The moment I pointed my camera at them, they started posing. This picture just made my day, Thank God for camera.

"Fire" — Close-up Campfire/Fireplace
A pure texture and element study — fire as abstract subject.
- Subject: Extreme close-up of burning logs, flames filling the entire frame. No context, no horizon — just fire, charred wood, and glowing embers.
- Composition: Fills the frame completely — no background, no surroundings. The logs provide diagonal structure across the lower half while the flames surge upward. The charred log end in the upper-centre acts as the only fixed reference point amid the fluid flame movement.
- Exposure: Well-judged for a technically challenging subject. The flames retain detail and gradation from deep red at the base through orange to bright yellow at the tips — no blown highlights despite the extreme brightness. The dark charred wood provides necessary contrast anchors.
- Colour: Intense and rich — the full fire spectrum from near-black ember through deep crimson, burnt orange, to luminous yellow-white. Deeply saturated and warm, following naturally from the "Iron Row" rust palette in the portfolio.
- Shutter speed: Fast enough to freeze the flame shapes while retaining their fluid, organic quality — the tongues of fire have defined edges without feeling frozen or unnatural.
- Mood: Elemental, primal, hypnotic. Fire as pure visual texture — the kind of image you could stare at for minutes.
- Strengths: The exposure control is excellent. The colour richness is immersive. The framing is bold — no hedging, fully committed to abstraction.
- Weaknesses: As a standalone it's strong, but compositionally it's relatively simple — the subject does all the work. A slightly wider shot including some context (hearth edge, surrounding darkness) might give it more grounding.
- Overall: A confident, immersive texture study. Pairs visually with "Iron Row" — both are studies in oxidation and heat, rust and flame. Shows the portfolio's consistent interest in texture and elemental surfaces.

Sarah is always a blast to shoot with - but she is always being modelnapped so I have very little time to shoot with her. We need to change this. We did this shoot on a cold January day on top of a parking garage in downtown Boise. A storm was moving in, Sarah was turning colors, but we still had a bunch of fun - and we agreed the next shoot would be indoors!
While hanging out with my cousin yesterday a bird decided to join us :)

NO BANNERS, please!
A big, confident, laid back male known as "Dave". He was protecting his territory from an interloper who was passing through (our first sighting of the day). Dave was quite happy to sit, pose and have his photo taken. The only thing he didn't do was say cheese.
We would have stayed longer but someone radioed in that Wild Dog spore had been spotted and they were heading our way. Forty minutes later we had located a pack of 24, watch this space ....

You know life is good when Hannah sends you a message saying she is in the mood for some photo therapy. She had a new outfit she wanted to try out and she wanted to do in a natural setting. Sounds good to me. We did this shoot on a blazing hot evening at the Scentsy campus in Meridian, Idaho in July 2022. Hannah is simply awesome to shoot with and we're already plotting future shoots.
Quick aside - this is the same area I shot Hannah at the beginning of 2022 - it was snowy and bitterly cold - about 20 degrees. She was turning blue. Big difference!
