Crystal Louviere sponsors a child in Africa after visiting The Compassion Experience. The Compassion Experience is a free event featuring an interactive journey through the true stories of children living in developing countries like the Philippines, Kenya, Uganda and the Dominican Republic.
The experience is 2,000 square feet of interactive exhibit space where visitors step inside homes, markets and schools — without getting on a plane. Lafayette, LA. Friday, Sept. 22, 2017.
I have created this work using my hands as a brush. This technique arose from my need to show compassion to myself and to embrace him. After thinking about it, I realized that my need to show compassion to myself is accompanied by the need to put back traumas from my childhood and to forgive my parents. At that moment I realized that the hands symbolize not only mine but also my parents. The lack of physical contact such as the hug from them has played an important role in the gap that exist between us and still preventing me from overcoming it.
Moreover this gap causes me a feeling of being trapped and isolated which I express by mixing the colors at the bottom of the design.
