«All beings tremble before violence. All fear death, all love life. See yourself in others. Then whom can you hurt? What harm can you do?» Buddha
Found this statue of St. Francis of Assissi, the patron saint of animals, on walking tour of Boston. It was in a space created on the side of a walkway and the area was clearly neglected with leaves strewn around and dust accumulated on the parapet and such. I happened to bump into this statue just after spending some time with the very majestic, shiny and well maintained equestrian statue of George Washington and the contrast was so striking. Or may be it is the surrounds that this statue was in and the texture of its stone and the brick background that adds so much character, depth and beauty to it.
I really the like angle of the shot here. The eyes appear to have so much kindness in them and the sparrow on the shoulder looking at the saint's face adds a lot of prominence to the subject (the face).
