Kiveton Park, South Yorkshire
Kiveton Community Woodland stands on the site of the old Kiveton Park Colliery, having been transformed into a mini country park following the closure of the colliery in 1994. The whole area, including the spoil heap (the pit tip), has now been tastefully landscaped, with areas of woodland, wetland and grassland attracting a wide variety of wildlife, and includes several miles of footpaths for walking. Much of the area is carpeted with wildflowers during the spring, including spectacular displays of cowslips, whilst the viewpoint near the summit of what was the pit tip has views extending for miles, right over to the Derbyshire hills. At the summit stand three huge stones, visible in the picture above, whilst nearby is a cast iron sculpture called Dreaming of Sky (shown below), depicting a pit pony hauling a tub of coal and commemorating the lives of the many ponies that once worked down Kiveton Pit.
This picture was taken from Kiveton Waters, near the Hard Lane entrance to the park.

The Old Order Amish community of Lawrence County is concentrated near Hwy 43 in Ethridge, where several families operate farms. The way of life has its roots in the Anabaptist movement in Europe, centered on Christian beliefs and requiring daily religious practice in every aspect of life. The Old Order Amish are quite strict when it comes to lifestyle; they are known for living without electricity or automobiles, just two of the modern conveniences they avoid in order to stay focused on religious practice. The Amish culture is fascinating to outsiders, bringing a curious tourism to their communities and creating a market for Amish baked goods, meats, cheeses, breads and crafts. please do not photograph the amish, as it violates their religious principles.
In addition to local shops that sell Amish goods listed in this guide, some Amish farms sell directly to the public. Look for signs along the roadside.

This photo was taken in old town Scottsdale. I liked this location because there is usually a lot of people out for the shops and restaurants. This photo is black and white in order to emphasize the detail and contrast. This photo shows how the subject is interacting with their objects and environment.
