THE SHAPE OF S.U.C.C.E.S.
An enlightening model that I've used and has been used in delivering workshops, in marketing and advertising and with communications experts is called The Shape of S.U.C.C.E.S. All effective messages are shaped by being:
Straightforward
Unexpected & Surprise
Credible
Concrete
Emotional
Stories
At the heart of Mind Magic lies the potent combination of the unexpected and surprising. Every trick we teach you revolves around you performing the impossible. Mind Magic, in line with the current trend of placing a high value on Personal Touch, allows you to engage with people through using face-to-face and physical means, providing a very real and concrete experience for them. Doing this lets you tell stories, leverage emotions, establish yourself as credible and put your message across in a straightforward, interesting and entertaining manner.

YOU IN YOUR FUTURE
The future is neither completely predictable nor enitrely random, but your future is in your hands. The future of presenting, training, teaching, communicating, creative thinking and business is based on the shattering of traditions and built upon the shards of what remains. To do this, novelty, innovation, imagination and the ability to embrace what is truly different is what's needed. Novelty is the key, and for many people who have previously attended the Sleight of Mind Set workshops, they have certainly found a source of it. This leads us to ask three significant questions;
What's your source of surprise?
How do you 'rock the boat'?
Where do you get unexpected influences from?
The coming together of these three answers will dictate how well prepared you are for the future. Mind Magic certainly acts to generate a blend of what's new, what's a positive force of disruption and what can be a fountain of extraordinary influences.

USING YOUR ILLUSIONS
Over the past 2 years, I have been running courses around the U.K. and found that a number of people from a wide range of background, including teachers, therapists, coaches, business leaders, scientists, trainers etc. have found Mind Magic and Psychological Artistry to help:
engage with audiences
a source of fresh ideas for business and delivery
add to presenting abilities and skills
understanding psychological illusions
add mystery and the unexpected to dry presentations
create emotional connections
add visual impact and vitality
use personal touch
create extraordinary moments
show the power of perspective
unleashing creative forces
reframing ideas
fuels imagination
In his astonishing TED talk, Beau Lotto demonstrates the power of visual illusions to the world. By combining the fascinating effect that illusions have on an audience with meaningful demonstrations of how these can be used to change the world and create beautiful pieces of art, Lotto also explores why we can't believe what we see, but we see what we believe.
To sum up his message and why illusions hold such meaning for us, he says: "The brain didn't evolve to see the world as it is. We can't. Instead, the brain has evolved to see the world the way it was useful to see it in the past." By this he means that we do not experience what is really going on outside of our heads, but we experience what we have learned expect. THE POWER OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ARTISTRY
The approach we take is what we call Psychological Artistry and involves using a blend of psychology, mind magic (or mentalism), personal development and smart thinking ideas. By tapping into people's imagination, curiosity and desire for mystery we can engage people in all different areas. By adding in psychological approaches, this is strengthened. I appreciate that by its very nature, it is not a traditional approach but that is where its power lies.
Psychological Artistry is about combining the world of art and psychology. It's about showing the beautiful flaws in our thinking and how we can use them. It's about magnifying how we all think and giving you the opportunity to change it. A couple of interesting examples the McGurk effect and Prof Richard Wiseman's "The Incredible Colour Changing Card Effect". These illustrate both the power and the approach of psychological artistry. I would love to know what you think.
Please see www.mindsways.com/SMS for these and other incredible videos. For more about Psyhcological Artistry and our approach, please see www.mindsways.com/about/
BRAND NEW BESPOKE EVENTS
We are now offering a number of bespoke events that can take place in-house or during conferences, meetings or during organisational change. These range from Talks, Performances and Workshops.
Mindsways' talks all focus on the power of perspective. Perspective dictates how we see the world, what we believe (about ourselves and others), our potential, our attitude, our interactions and how we approach problems. This is illustrated through an entertaining and enlightening combination of illusions, Psychological Artistry, magic tricks and moments of mystery.
Entertainment that both opens the mind and bedazzles it, Mindsways' performances are always unique, memorable and a powerful source of inspiration for staff and team members. With the flexibility to include your message (previous performances have been based on "Language & Beliefs" and "Creating Impact"), these unforgettable set of events can be used to support, enhance and make your meeting in to the event of the year.
The workshops can be half days or full days, even a series of recurring days depending on your needs. Regardless of their format, they will always provide fascinating insights and breath-taking mystery, wrapped up in your metaphors and learning points.

Funded by U.S. Department of State, World Learning is designing and implementing a professional exchange program, the Digital Communication Network, from June 10-28, 2017. This will be the third iteration of the program, which brings professionals from Eastern Europe and Central Asia to the United States to study topics such as trends and tools in digital communication; the impact of technology on marketing strategies; and social media management. Following the first exchange in 2015, the original participants established the Digital Communication Network as an independent professional association, which has registered over 3,000 members globally and conducted further workshops and events in Moldova, Lithuania, Poland, Armenia, and Ukraine.
This communications facility in Sand Flats Recreation Area (in Moab, Utah) stands atop a small hill north of Sand Flats Road between campground clusters D and E. It belongs to the Union Pacific Railroad. The out-of-date sign refers to the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad, which long ago was merged into Union Pacific. My guess is that this facility supports communication between trains on the Cane Creek Branch and the UP dispatcher (in Omaha?). The power line leading to the tower is featured in another photo (see below).
On some maps this facility is labeled as "Radio tower."

This quote hung on Dorothea Lange's dark room door:
"The contemplation of things as they are, without error or confusion, without substitution or imposture, is in itself a nobler thing than a whole harvest of invention."
~ Francis Bacon
In our daily lives we may not particularly like what we hear and see, but when one has the courage to contemplate these things without error, confusion, or our imagination, then one is in a nobler place where compassion will come forth.
Compassion for one's self...,
Compassion for another...
Dorothea Lange held a compassionate eye behind her camera.

Ted Smith's Lions of Communication in the Circus, Bath.
It was one of the many lions which were part of the Lions of Bath public art exhibition.
The 100-strong pride of lions - with the tag-line 'Pride in our City' - were individually painted and decorated and spread about the city.
The lions were displayed throughout 2010, before being gathered for one weekend at the Royal Crescent and then auctioned off.
The lion was chosen because it is both the symbol of royal England and because it is on the Bath coat of arms, recognising the King Edgar - first king of all England - in Bath in 973AD.
The King’s Circus was designed by John Wood and built by his son John Wood the Young after his father died the year he began construction.
The Circus is made up of 30 houses in the Palladian architectural style, divided into three smaller crescents – the first of which stood alone for seven years while funds were sought to complete the construction work, which took place between 1754 and 1767.
Britain’s first circular street, its colonnaded design and shape took obvious inspiration from the Colosseum in Rome, linking the modern Georgian city of Bath with its ancient Roman history.
There was also a link to Bath’s mystical history as he designed it to be the same size as Stonehenge – though his measurements were a little off. The stone acorns which adorn the houses represent the legend of Prince Bladud and how he discovered the hot springs in the city.
A carved frieze runs around the entire circle, while there are three styles of column on the exterior – Doric, Ionic and Corintian.
Among the former residents of the Circus are the artist Thomas Gainsborough and Prime Minister William Pitt.

Three weeks ago, we heard that Derrick Bird had shot and killed 12 innocent people. At the same time a tragedy of near equal proportions was unfolding in a local village here. Rachel Slack and her 23 month old son has been stabbed to death by her ex-partner, Andrew Cairns (who later killed himself). He was known to have mental health problems and had been arrested by police earlier in the week for threatening to kill Rachel. It was later revealed that Rachel was pregnant with a new partner's child. If Derrick Bird had chosen to shoot his victims on a different day, perhaps this story would have featured more prominently in the national press and more help could now be given to those who really need it. Prevention rather than cure...
