I wish I could attach smell and sound to this picture. This is one of the upstairs rooms in the house that my mom was born in. My earliest memories of Colombia include this bedroom and the old-fashioned balcony. The only downside is that the house is on the townsquare.. and the church is on the adjacent face of the square about 2 houses away... and the church bell still rings at 5 am.

The mornings have been cold. But then I think about the comforts I take for granted and count my blessings.
Comfort Maple is an enormous and strangely shaped sugar maple tree which is believed to be at least 500 years old, the oldest sugar maple in Canada. This beautiful tree stands at nearly 100 feet tall with a trunk circumference of 20 feet and it's branches stretch far out to the sky.

Made in drypoint etching with ink (A5)
These etchings were part of the same theme, "Comfort&Discomfort", as my large acrylic painting, where I explored the feeling of entrapment due to body dysmorphia. The etching on the right was created with dark green ink, onto a painted red sheet, where I left out hints of white to accentuate the highlights of the facial features, such as on the nose and forehead.
