Monday is usually the day that Amtrak's Cardinal ferries equipment that has just been released by the Beech Grove Shops from Indianapolis to Chicago. On those days it takes on the appearance of being two two trains in one. The combined train is shown on the CSX Monon Subdivision south of Linden, Indiana, along U.S. Route 231.
I pass Harry Lawson trucks on a regular basis on my travels, this beauty was parked at Seaton flats as I made my way down to Aberdeen Harbour,the driver agreed to me taking some photos, and had a chat about the company and what they do, a fine fellow indeed.
Harry Lawson Ltd. commenced operation in 1945 when the founders, Harry Lawson and his wife Dora, purchased a one vehicle business operating a daily carrier service between Dundee and Carnoustie. Their son Harry joined the company in 1961, at which time the fleet had increased to 12 vehicles. Harry continued to develop the business, taking over as Chief Executive in 1976 with Harry senior retiring by the end of the 70s. With marked determination to offer an efficient, high quality service and reliable road transport solutions, Harry soon built up an extensive portfolio of customers, including a number of blue chip accounts.
Despite now operating throughout the UK it was, however, the Company’s strong links with local enterprises which proved to be the catalyst in the Company’s move into tanker haulage. This niche was developed as Harry foresaw that the business would benefit from having a clear focus or speciality in the transport sector and whilst the business continues to operate both tanker haulage and general haulage, it is perhaps the tanker haulage sector for which it is best now known.
Harry Lawson Ltd., remains a family owned business operating from its base in Broughty Ferry and is now entering the third generation with Michael, Harry’s son, having joined in 2004. Today’s fleet comprises around 70 trucks and 150 trailers and the Company continues to take great pride in the presentation and cleanliness of its vehicles and the instantly recognisable two tone green livery is sure to be a familiar sight to many collectors and truck enthusiasts alike.

The Volvo FH is a heavy truck range produced by Swedish truck manufacturer Volvo Trucks. Introduced in late 1993 as FH12 and FH16, production still continues with the now the second generation of FH range model lineup.
FH stands for Forward control High entry, where numbers denominate engine capacity in litres. The FH range is one of the most successful truck series ever having sold more than 400,000 units worldwide.[1]

In September 2012, Volvo Trucks re-launched the Volvo FH with major technology upgrades, a new design and more.
The company also introduced the first of its Euro VI engines, the D13K which is available as an option on the new Volvo FH and compulsory for new trucks in Europe from January 2014. Other quotable new features is the I-torque driveline and the I-see fuel saving technology. With the new thirteen-litre engine, the name has changed to FH13.
AEB
Volvo Trucks have demonstrated the new AEB system for their FH series on YouTube. The truck did well and stopped only centimeters from the car ahead. The tractor trailer was fully loaded to 40 tons GCW when Volvo demonstrated the system.
The AEB system combines a radar and a camera that work together to identify and monitor vehicles in front. The system is designed to deal with both stationary and moving vehicles and can prevent a collision with a moving target at relative speeds of up to 70 km/h.
When the system detects a vehicle that the truck will hit at its current speed, the warning system activates a constant red light in the windscreen in order to bring the driver's attention back to the road.

It is a composite image made from two images shot from the same position and angle. First image is a conventional photo (made in visible spectrum) and second image is an Infrared photo shot with an IR converted camera.
You can see the clarity's coming from IR and the color's coming from the conventional image.
Buildings on the horizon are 12km (7.5miles) away and visibility conditions aren't perfect.

After a typical daily patrol, the mechanized platoon returns to base along the same route the unit has taken numerous times. The long road back to base is bordered on both sides by opium poppy fields and native farmers.
After passing one of the unsuspecting farm houses the American unit is attacked from a small building located at the 5 o’clock position of the Bradley Fighting vehicle. The U.S. forces have walked into a carefully and preciously planned ambush.
According to typical U.S. Army protocol, the Bradley and the 6 infantry soldiers immediately begin to engage the enemy threat. The Bradley turret quickly turns and begins to level the building where the attack began with its 25 mm M242 Chain Gun. The six soldiers in the rear of the vehicle quickly exit the Bradley and seek protective cover behind the steel reinforced aluminum armor. In the first few seconds of the firefight one American soldier goes down and helped to the cover behind the Bradley.
Multiple enemy forces pour from within the neighboring buildings, and the friendlies quickly realize they are greatly outnumbered. Realizing the unit is in grave danger, the commander calls to higher for air support. Luckily, there is a new UAV, the Seeker, in the air only 2 minutes from their location.
Unknown to the patrol, the leader of the enemy forces had planned to initiate the attack at a precise and exact time, which would call for the attack to begin when the American armored vehicle would be right on top of a buried IED (Improvised Explosive Device). The enemy commander’s plan has worked so far and he is about to detonate the IED with a cellular phone while hidden in the perceived safety of the larger building.
The American forces were ambushed with superior numbers and the enemy is about to spring the final trap that would spell doom for the entire unit. . . . . . . . . . . . .
However, thanks to the close coordination between land and air forces, the adept American commander is able to save his men from death by calling in a local UAV to level the area and eliminate the IED threat hidden within.
The morning empty coal wagons to Xinghua Colliery were combined with the empty spoil wagons on this particular morning on the Chengzihe system of the Jixi Coal Railway. The first attempt to surmount the fierce bank out of Zhengyang ended in failure and after rolling back down the hill a spirited effort was made by both locomotives and the train was making steady progress when it passed us stood on the Xinghua spoil banks. The strong side wind must have made the task even harder for the locomotives, it certainly froze my fingers as the temperature was around -15C before taking the wind chill into account.
We each started with a 6x6 square and made a giant circle within it. Next, cut the circle into 4 pieces and send a quarter to each of 3 partners. I'm still waiting for my final square in order to assemble my collaborative piece.

Combined Platform Ladder 122's new rig, a 2018 Scania P410/Bronto Skylift FL60XR.
This 197ft (60m) articulated aerial ladder platform truck is equipped with a Rosenbauer N40 1250GPM (4000LPM) pump. It weighs 76,280lb (34.6 tonnes) fully loaded.
It replaces a 2004 Mercedes Actros 4144K/Vema 553 TFL.
This truck has been redeployed as CPL151 as of mid-December 2019.

Shooting through my front window, screen and all, catching the finishing pass in the field across the road. A Case IH 9230 track with a 16 row corn head can really shell the corn. The corn was unloaded on the go into a couple of grain carts. The John Deere 8345 R in the foreground is attached to an 1,100 bushel Kinzy 1040 grain cart with 36 inch tracks. Mostly hidden from view is a John Deere 8360 RT (tracks) with a 1,400 bushel J&M cart also equipped with 36 inch tracks. The corn was hauled form the field by a small fleet of semis.
I would say that this operation is just a little bigger than the norm for our area, but not nearly as big as some that operate with two or three combines.

Been busy getting my Socal / Malibu HDR Landscapes ready for the Los Angeles Gallery show! Don;t worry--I have been shooting many epic 45surf goddesses but have not had the time to finish them. :) Well, here's one now!

Combine the shallow-depth-of-field with Sony NEX-6's latest face-tracking auto focus, and you can see how the moving video keeps the model's pretty blue eyes in focus, while blurring the background! The Sony Alpha NEX 6 has much better bokeh than the cameras I have been using! :)
