We'd always been curious about the calling that Roseberry Topping has for photographers. Being more used to the Dales and the lakes it seems like a small hill hardly worth the bother. But on a sunny day when the flowers are out it is quite lovely.
Thanks to Pixelda for directing us to where the bluebells lay, although I feel we haven't done them justice. We were still too early and it looks like a nice bit of evening sun is the best tonic for these. A solitary puff of cloud hung over the flatlands, stubbornly refusing our directions yo move eastwards over the summit. Our cloudbusting technique needs some work I feel :)
not often I hold my hand up to hdr images these days.....there is so much bad press and a general high brow attitude because so many images posted are so over the top.........and yes I used to be a guilty party, but I still dabble in the dark art and feel happy to bare my soul on this one.......If you liked it on first view, but not when you realized it was hdr, at least you liked it in the first instance.

This is The House in The Clouds in Thorpeness, Suffolk. The village was develped into a private holiday resort in the early 1900's, with lots of mock Jacobean and Tudor Buildings. This house was the old water tower, which was clad in timber to make it look like a fantastcal house. These days it actually is a house!

This title was inspired by Kate Bush's song "Cloudbusting" which was inspired by the memoirs of Peter Reich's book called "Book of Dreams", (1973) about his father Wilhelm Reich, a revoluntionary Austrian psychoanalyst/psychologist and inventor. Reich developed the concept of Orgonomy and one of the offshoots from this concept was his theory that "Orgone energy" in the sky could be manipulated by a cloud busting machine (that he invented) to make it rain. And he was apparently able to prove this practically in July 6, 1953, Bangor USA.

It also appears that his theory of Orgonomy and the way he was applying it to a variety of areas became an issue of controversy in his time and circles, and, his work was dismissed by the scientific community and the government as pseudoscience and as making false claims. Ultimately, "all orgone-related equipment and literature owned by Reich and his associates was destroyed" without their consent.

However, to this day, Reich still has his followers who are still happy to explore his theories. And apparently, there are also colleges in America that are dedicated to his theory of Orgonomy.

I myself have not reached any particular conclusion on this. I think I would need to read a lot more, including the "Book of dreams" before reaching any particular conclusions. Having said that, I must say, I do enjoy seeing creative and inventive ideas. And as far fetched as this idea might sound, I do like the idea that there could be a machine invented that might help in solving the problem of droughts around the world.

A scene you always dream of, but rarely get to see.
Sometimes you need luck in this hobby and for this photo, I had about 5 different levels of luck with all the right timings.
In the early morning it was very foggy, but that started to lift and it became sunny. It enabled me to shoot some photos of the de-icing. After a while, it became foggy again. It went up to the point where it was useless to take any photos, simply because you could not see the aircraft (in time). To give you an example, there was an Emirates B777 (not a small plane) and I could only see it as it passed over my head.
I still persisted to stay at runway 01R, just in case the fog would lift. I ended up playing Sudoku on my phone for 30 minutes, while waiting inside the rental car. In the mean time, my friend was making his way to the airport to join me at my location. He said that there were blue skies all around, but I still couldn't see anything.
I knew that there was a SAS A330 inbound and it was getting lighter outside. I went out and prepared for its arrival. Faint patches of blue sky were starting to show over my head.
Then I heard an aircraft coming closer - it was the A330. It flew over and literally ripped the fog open like I've only seen on videos. At that point, I knew the delayed United 757 couldn't be that far out anymore.
My friend arrived at my location and not one minute later we were treated to the most amazing approach I've ever seen in my life, the 757 (a known vortex-machine) ripped open the fog and its wake caused the 'upside-down mushroom'-effect that you see on the bottom of the photo.
