For some reason, this little clockwork wind-up Grim Reaper always reminds me of a skeletal firefighter! His chunky yellow scythe looks like a fire axe, and his black cowled get-up a bit like a uniform and helmet! :-)

On this warm ( high 60s ) Monday December 15th, 2025 afternoon we Eagle Lake Irrigation District worker Ted Chavez heading into Sparta Auto parts as he enters Casey Torres and Ray Sammy both holler, “ how is the lake looking “ Ted just shakes his head mutters “ no comment ” .
Inside Ted picking up a part order tells store worker Amy Frost “ just like those two endless chess game drama ,lake level drama is just as old “ Amy chimes in “ Yep and this warmer dry weather is not helping Rio Grande water shed at all “
As Ted exits and walks back the pickup the chess drama heats up as yet again another verbal fight breaks out over who cheated as their chess game . He thinks to himself after 16 years of playing chess or checkers those two end every game accusing each other of cheating just like clockwork
