GM Class 66/4(LE) 2,500 hp Co-Co No.66 414 of DRS in their "Compass" livery on a Mossend-Daventry Intermodal at Warrington Bank Quay, 9/08.
An unidentified Class 31 is seen here arriving at Bedford with a parcels van in tow, in the early 1980's. The site of the old Bedford Midland Station in the background is seen derelict before a DIY Store was built there - this has now been demolished and a car park has replaced it.
Scanned from an acquired negative.
The rear BP16 power bogie of a Class 43 locomotive No. 43 033 "Driver Brian Cooper 15 June 1947 - 5 October 1999" of First Great Western at Bristol Temple Meads, 11/04/14. Although a lightweight, fabricated design, they are one of the strongest bogie type ever used on British railways. The primary suspension employed coil springs with Alsthom links and the secondary suspension had Flexicoil springs and Koni dampers. The prototype bogies were tested on Clas 86 electric locomotive No.E3173 in 1969.

Beyer Peacock Class 35 "Hymek" 1,700 hp Bo-Bo's No.(D)7001 & (D)7028 in BR blue with all-yellow front ends (and with the aluminium "D's" painted over) at Shelwick taking the Worcester line on the "Hymek Swansong", 09/73, as the remainig members of the class were scheduled for withdrawal soon afterwards. However, because of a shortage of motive power and the fact that the "Hymeks" were the most reliable of the hydraulics, the last was not withdrawn until 1975. Scanned photograph taken with a Kowa SET in very poor light.

On April 13, 2017 the Los Angeles Fire Department welcomed LAFD Recruit Training Academy Class 2016-2 to our Fire Department family!
After 20 grueling weeks of training, they will enter the field as probationary firefighters and learn to apply their academy skills to the field.
Today they pinned on their badges and if they successfully complete probation, they will wear the LAFD helmet shield.
Two moments in a long career which no firefighter forgets.
Congratulations to all 46 graduates!

Note the driving rain and the former Great Western Railway (GWR) water tower on the right. The tower is still used to refill steam locomotive tenders on railtours that use the station.

Class 42 No, D821 "Greyhound"with it's tempoary name of "Cornwall" stabled at KIdderminster on 6/5/01. The loco reverted to it's original name on 29/9/02.
My favourite viewpoint on the BKR. Here the class 40 diesel 40135 is pulling the HST prototype at about 20mph past Kinneil & about to accelerate to gain momentum for the forthcoming climb to Birkhill. I do not know why the class 40 is there other than for show since the HST is capable of moving itself & there is a class 37 out of shot bringing up the rear. Talk about belt & braces! Sorry for the water drop on my lens. We had some typical Scottish liquid sunshine today.
