With only 8 powered axles and over 8500 tons of Fort Wayne bound manifest in tow, train CHFW slips and claws rain slicked rails, making for an extremely slow move in downtown.

CF&E CHFW passes the signal at County Line in Hobart, Indiana on May 29, 2023. This was the PRR Ft. Wayne Lines eastward main 1, just to my left a couple of hundred feet or so was the one time division point between the Chicago Terminal and Ft. Wayne Divisions at East Bart, Mile Post 433. The track in the foreground is a conecction between the CFE and the NS Chicago District (NKP) put in when NS owned the ex PRR across Indiana in the 1990s.

It ended up being a busy week on the former Pennsylvania main line across Ohio. An eastbound grain train rolls along the flat landscape of west central Ohio west of Dola, OH. December 13, 2023.

"Serial no. S161 208. A very original example, fitted with front pick-up hitch and front weights. The vendor states that this tractor is running and driving and has came from a 40-acre farm, used originally for ploughing and power harrowing. It shows 6,900 hours."

Parked up on Nottingham Road, Long Eaton and waiting recovery following breakdown is Notts and Derby 950 (FP04 CFE), 25th April 2018. FP04 CFE is a bit of a “one off” in the Wellglade fleet and is a Transbus (Dennis) Dart chassis fitted with a short (8 metre) Transbus (Plaxton) Pointer body delivered new to Littles of Ilkeston in 2004. At the time Dennis and Plaxton were both part of Transbus International until it collapsed in 2004 when Alexander Dennis and Plaxton were sold to different companies.
A morning CHFW train made for a decently lit photo of eastbound CFE 5597 leading this Fort Wayne bound manifest train.

A CF&E eastbound emerges from the Ridge Road/37th Ave./Business U.S. 6 overpass in Hobart/New Chicago, Indiana on April 17, 2022. Looking directly west, I am standing on the original U.S. Rte. 6 right-of-way, until the very late 1930s or early 1940s there was a grade crossing over the PRR here. Pieces of the original road remain on either side of the tracks but end a hundred feet or so on either side of the tracks. The original overpass was replaced with this new one probably in the 1990s.
