"The New Year Celebration"
I hope that it's not too late to share this shot of the 2015 NYE fireworks at Space Needle, and I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
I can hardly recall what it feels like to see fireworks, not that I've been to less but because I've always tried so hard to get the best shot with my camera while forgetting to experience it as if I was there. I'm sure that this is a common photographer's dilemma that felt the same.
Knowing the different objective, I made sure that this experience would be personal this time. I took a few minutes to setup the camera the tripod and simply let it did its job I could just be one of those happy viewers together with my friends.
The fireworks went on a little shorter than expected which only lasted roughly 7 minutes, but I have nothing to complain given that it was on a clear day with minimal wind. If you look carefully, Mount Rainier is vaguely visible just behind Space Needle which is quite rare in Seattle. I think the fireworks may also have contributed to lighten it up :P
This past weekend, we traveled up to Vancouver, B.C. to watch the United States compete in the annual fireworks competition. Representing the U.S. was none other than the Disney Company, so we had to go! First of all, they were reporting an expected 1/2 million people there to watch the show, so we arrived several hours early to search for a good spot along the bay. Lucky for us, there were plenty of great viewing locations, but within an hour of us setting up there wasn't an empty patch of grass all along the water. In addition to everyone on the shore, there was probably more than 300 boats in the water surrounding the barge. Such a crazy atmosphere!
The show started right after dark and Disney did not disappoint! The show was around 25 min and featured classic songs from Disney films (Little Mermaid, Lion King, When you wish upon a star) and some of the newer hits as well (Let it go, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean). It was a great show and a really unique experience!
It was another nice fireworks show in Idaho Falls, a fitting culmination of a day of celebration of the blessings of liberty we each enjoy in the free land!

I can't recall who said this "A wedding anniversary is the celebration of love, trust, partnership, tolerance and tenacity. The order varies for any given year.”
Today, is my very first marriage anniversary.
I think, we deserve a celebrations.

Fireworks and a full moon over San Francisco
After shooting previous shots around the Point Bonita Lighthouse, I figured I might as well hit Hawk Hill before calling it a night. I'm glad I did, since I was just in time for a fireworks display!
I sat in the same place shooting the same shot for quite a while to wind up with this finished picture. Multiple exposures were blended together both to smooth out the water and enhance the fireworks.
I wasn't sure I would participate in this weeks Macro Monday challenge but at the last minute I decided to since it was my Birthday this last week. So I thought I would keep it simple!
If you fav this photo please leave a comment as to why you like it, thanks in advance.
We had a little celebration recently. I had made the chocolate cake, dipped the strawberries, but let the French make the wine...
Window Rock finally had her snow day the 2nd week of January. The beautiful 9 inches of snow still cover the hillsides and the children had two extra days off from school. This luminiferious celebration was captured when school resumed.
We love our Navajoland snow, as it will bring plenty of high desert plateau florals in the spring.
May your 2008 New Year continue in radiant Beauty!
Juneteenth Celebration in Leimert Park, Los Angeles, CA. Thousands of people gathered together for a day of celebration in which in 1865 did slaves in Texas found out they were free, however the Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Lincoln was in 1863. This moment is even more powerful this year, because the entire world has been in an uproar to fight back against the injustices from police brutality against black people. People want change and they have time and time again shown up in numbers to make it known, this time is no different.
(266/365) I wasn't planning on uploading this photo of my daughter's birthday cake to my group "2015 : one photo each day" but when I checked back it turns out it's the only photo on my phone from that date (I was so poorly photography was the last thing on my mind). Laura had a fabulous birthday week/weekend, she hadn't seen her grandparents for 16 months. She went back to work in Killarney yesterday still a bit hungover! The joys of youth.
It would have been a disaster if I'd deleted this after I uploaded it to Facebook or worse still not taken one at all that day then I couldn't complete the 365 challenge, I'd have had to resign from my own group lol.
