As reflected in the lake below, a volley of fireworks explode in the twilight sky over Lake Estes in Colorado in celebration of July 4th 1776 and Independence Day for the United States of America.
It's autumn, at least on this side of the equator. Nature is slowly revealing its beautiful fall colors. It's also the time when I'm slowly getting back to work in my (makeshift) studio (a.k.a. the attic) at home, and that transition isn't always easy...
I saw this week's Macro Mondays theme and thought: I'm in! After several attempts with various objects, I thought of this small cup, just 1.5 cm high, in the warm golden colour of autumn; and finally I got an idea. My return to my own small, makeshift studio will be a celebrated with a macro in autumn colours.
Including negative space, this photo is 5.8 cm wide.

Dressed in its pre-1983 livery, Strasburg 2-10-0 90 greets the sunrise at the Caboose Motel. The retro look was a celebration of 60 years of steam’s second act at Strasburg.
In Latvia, the summer solstice (Jāņi or Līgo) is celebrated with festivities on June 23rd and 24th, with events often taking out of towns and cities, in the countryside.
But also they who don't go out to the countryside, celebrate Summer Solstice
Key aspects of the celebration:
Pagan origins: Jāņi is a traditional pagan festival that predates Christianity, honoring the sun and fertility.
Līgo and Jāņi: June 23rd is known as Līgo, and June 24th is Jāņi Day.
Bonfires: Bonfires are central to the celebrations, with people jumping over them for good luck and to ward off evil.
Wreaths: Floral wreaths are worn by women, and oak wreaths by men.
Folk music and dancing: Latvian folk music and dancing are integral parts of the festivities.
Sauna and caraway cheese: Traditional sauna visits and the eating of caraway cheese are also common practices.
Seeking the fern flower: A mystical element of the celebration involves searching for the mythical fern flower.
Dawn celebration: Staying up all night to greet the sunrise is a key part of the tradition.
I am in Riga, VEF Culture Palace where will be a concert- impromptu solstice celebration...not in the countryside, not outside but on the stage
P.S. it was an excellent togetherness❤️
Most of my beloved Roses in the garden are Floribunda Roses. Also called “Polyanthas”
Floribunda (: Latin root) or Polyantha (: Greek root) , means exactly the same thing: “Abundant in blooms!! " And they are!!!!!!!!!
The Floribunda Family are Modern Roses!! They are created by talented Roserists by marrying old singly growing varieties of Roses . The irresistible David Austin Roses/ English Roses are spectacular, because not only they are just Floribundas, but they also have large and double blooms, and strongly scented! ( : Graham Thomas, Golden Celebration, Molineaux, Shakespeare 2000)
They grow in multiple adorable buds together, and all bloom almost simultaneously!! The result is an irresistible splash of colour , which seen from a distance is very appreciated, especially in big gardens like mine! And that is why I chose them!!
I had actually prepared something else, but I changed my mind because I longed for something lighter. So here is my glitzy Christmas tree ornament in high-key. To me, celebrating Christmas means spending time with friends and family. Unfortunately, everything is different this year and we will have to celebrate alone. But we look up to the shining stars that guide us through these difficult times and hope that the year 2021 will connect us again. Please stay healthy and get on well over the holidays.

Anniversary dinner at Cova Restaurant; private jet to the resort and choice of three courses. Softly playing piano music and dancing in the cave. Truly a special place for fine dining.

Talawanda Lake is one of my favorite places close to home. This beautiful little lake is filled with crystal clear water and every summer a wide mat of lily pads surrounds the shoreline. The combination of clear water and aquatic vegetation make Talawanda a photographers dream. I finally got some free time saturday evening and was able to capture this sunset over the lake. It sure felt good!!!!! Hope you all have a great week and remember to celebrate summer!
I am the happy owner of two bouquets of roses, and I hope they will last long! [Explored in the Women's Takeover on 28/03/2024, #100]
A small low-key celebration with a bottle of de Bortoli sparkling shiraz to accompany our evening meal to express our relief and joy that a much-loved member of our extended family who has been struggling through chemo, has now been found to be free of cancer.
Living at opposite ends of the country and all of us still in a version of lock down, this was the best we could do for the time being.
I encountered a celebration with elephants just outside of Mahamuni Paya. Elephants were surrounded by crowds. People in Myanmar love elephants so as to make the heavy creature an airlines company's logo.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate and Happy Holidays to everyone else!
