An AMAZING spectacle. All these catfish swam as one entity along the reef wall. Their bodies must have been almost touching all of the time, and the catfish in the middle would see nothing of the world. Still, the whole ball moved very coherently, and when I was not careful enough, I scared them and they all changed direction to swim away from me. A great example of emergent behavior coming from the decisions of hundreds of individual animals to form one entity.

The adult Osprey brings one catfish to the nest where its hungry mate and three hungry young are waiting.

In Belize River. On our way to the Lamanai archeological site we arrived at a boat dock in Ladyville from where we took a bus to New River. These fish were under the dock. The Belizian guide pointed to them and said 'You eat them, we don't. We have better fish in the ocean'. I did not like his comment and my reply was 'Catfish is good, you don't know what you are missing'.
Pak sou gong or 白鬚公 or 'white whiskered grandpa' catfish. One of the best fish dishes I've eaten and despite being a freshwater fish, it didn't taste at all muddy or earthy. The fish belly or blubber was creamy, rich and memorable. 52 RM or £8.14
For as long as I can remember my mom has served fried fish for dinner on Friday's. Now that she is much older and her health prevents her from doing alot of the things she use to do it is a treat when she is able to "be the person she once was".

Toronto has been literally flooded this year with massive amounts of rain. At the Rouge park the parking lot is flooded out. In the shallow area of the parking lot are schools of baby catfish. This is a small group that broke off from a bigger school. It is possible to see their moustaches.
