At the end of 10th off Marine View Drive in Everett, Washington at what is known as the "public boat launch." Two Caspian Terns were roosting among gulls in the parking lot.
This tern with a complete set of 6 bands on its legs was banded as a chick at East Sand Island in the Columbia River estuary on 7/11/2003.

Typical 1cy caspian gull with a heavy and short bill, but within the variation. The head feathers are also still dark so maybe a late breeding season.

At present, most scientists seem to agree that climate change plays a significant role in sea level fluctuations in the Caspian Sea, since temperature increases and changes in precipitation directly impact the overall water balance – termed total inflow and evaporation (Panin 2006).

My dear friends in Caspian brought their monstrous sound to biggest stage I've had the privilege to watch them play.
I hope I did them justice in whatever small way I could.
I didn't notice it until I looked at the photos, but this tern is sporting a shiny aluminum bracelet (courtesy of the bird banding lab) on its right leg!

World's Largest Lake
The Caspian Sea is the world's largest lake or largest inland body of water in the world, and accounts for 40 to 44 percent of the total lacustrine waters of the world. With a surface area of 394,299 km² (152,240 mi²), it has a surface area greater than the next six largest lakes combined.
