Martin Guitars have a long history with the Cash family. The black D-35, made for Johnny Cash, became not only the musician's signature guitar, but an iconic image associated with him. Grammy Award-winning musician and writer Rosanne Cash celebrated her family's history with these iconic guitars through a program featuring music written and performed on the legendary instruments.
Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Early American Guitars: The Instruments of C.F. Martin, on view January 14-December 7, 2014.

On Monday 28th June 2004, the abandoned Hartwood hospital was set on fire. The main hall collapsed, its roof gone, and the kitchens were gutted. Today it remains derelict, its twin towers a landmark for miles around.
Out of the two towers, (one a clock tower, the other a weather vane) access is only available to the top of one. In the other is the stone core that makes up the spiral staircase that opens into nothing high up. I failed dismally to get up in the weather vane tower, being to frightened of heights to cross the floor to the turret. We hid up here for hours while security turned up. An owl flew through while we waited.
On the ground floor, corridors lead to nowhere, the wards long gone, and in the rooms that are left, boarder and dark, fungus blooms on woodwork and wall paper hangs crazily off damp walls. I loved this visit - it was tense, edgy and so much fun.
I hope something is done to arrest the decay - sooner or later there will be nothing but a shell of a place that was important in the more enlightened treatment of mentally ill people, particularly under the watchful administration of Dr Archibald Campbell Clark pb.rcpsych.org/content/24/11/423.full

On display, In a hotel lobby in Whitehorse, Yukon territory, Canada, I came across this quaint, old and beautiful cash register from the past century. The image shows only a part of the machine.
On a main street, in the CBD’s most central location, across from a bank and at the corner of a high quality building landmark the bright kitsch sign reads: Cash Money: a most unlikely occupant of a most prestigious and, presumably, profitable location. Something urban is off kilter; a mismatch of expected and actual use. Could it be a transition from old urbanism to new urbanism?
