The Gullfoss Waterfall is one of Iceland's largest, with the glacial water cascading 32 metres down into a narrow canyon. Trying to keep the mist and spray off the lens long enough to take a shot took some practice and fast reactions.. [Iceland 16/20]

I returned to my favorite little cascade at Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. This time I tried a longer lens and photos were taken looking into much brighter reflections. Depth of field was shallower with the longer lens but closer details were beautiful. Access was a little more difficult because the snow was deeper, but it was worth it.

The city took its name from a set of locks built to improve navigation past the Cascades Rapids of the Columbia River. The U.S. federal government approved the plan for the locks in 1875, construction began in 1878, and the locks were completed on November 5, 1896. The locks were subsequently submerged in 1938, replaced by Bonneville Lock and Dam. Cascade Locks is just upstream from the Bridge of the Gods, a toll bridge that spans the Columbia River.
A few miles into the loop that Allison and I did we arrived at Cascade Falls. It is a nice stop to break for a snack or lunch. The trail to the falls and the falls themselves are populated with day hikers. There is an air of excitement and a wonderful stop to break.
Located in Patapsco Valley State Park, the Cascade Falls trickle down the rocks in the most delicate way.
We went for a lovely walk at Cascade Falls the other day. At the end of August, the water level was incredibly low compared to other images I've seen. The country roads on the drive out were also beautiful, so it made for a wonderful day.
I only had my light weight tripod with me, which only extends up so high. At first I thought about climbing over the railing to get the shot...but I'm not brave enough...or maybe I AM smart enough...to not do that. From the viewing platform I still got a fun shot I think.

Cascade Overflow
Snoqualmie Falls
Washington
December 2025
The recent atmospheric river slammed western Washington with tons of rain over a short period, soaking the Cascades and foothills. That deluge quickly turned into massive runoff that is still ongoing at Snoqualmie Falls and throughout the Snoqualmie River system.
At the peak of runoff during the storm, observers reported flow rates around ~70,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) over the falls — roughly five times normal high-water flow — before receding again as the rain eased.
