La luna de Septiembre no es una superluna, como las de los tres meses anteriores, ni falta que le hace, porque para ver una luna grande y hermosa hay que verla apenas se eleva sobre el horizonte, independientemente de que sea superluna o microluna. Además se añadió el efecto de que, al encontrase baja en el cielo, tiene una tonalidad anaranjada, lo que ocurre en ocasiones al dispersarse por la atmósfera las longitudes de onda azules, dejando más longitudes de onda rojas y, debido a ello, la Luna adquiere un brillo anaranjado o rojizo, siendo el mismo fenómeno que origina el tono de las puestas de sol.
Recibe además el nombre de “Luna de cosecha”, en el hemisferio Norte, debido a que este año el equinoccio de otoño ha sido hoy 23 de Septiembre (en el hemisferio Sur fue el 20 de Marzo). Cuando se produce en Octubre (cada 3 o 5 años), pasa a llamarse así la luna de Octubre y, entonces, la de Septiembre se llamará “Luna de maíz”.

I have a series of shots from Cades Cove Tennessee in my photostream, most from one trip around the loop. My wife and I enjoyed the time there and just a relaxing drive together. Which speaking of the drive that's how I acquired this shot, from the car window. If you do some close investigating in the eye of the deer, you will see our reflection.
The subject was chowing down at the moment of taking this image and moving around. I tried to compose the shot with the head from corner to corner. This being the only one that turned out as I wanted.

La Giralda de Sevilla es uno de los monumentos más icónicos de la capital hispalense siendo uno de los más visitados y amados tanto por los sevillanos como por los turistas que visitan la ciudad. 1.Su nombre originalmente, en 1568, cuando fue construida como minarete, fue el de “Triunfo de la Fe Victoriosa”, pero poco tiempo después pasó a llamarse Giralda, cuya traducción es, literalmente, “que gira”
Una inscripción en latín recorre las cuatro caras del monumento. “Turris fortissima nomen DNI Proverb. 18” que significa “La torre más fuerte es el Nombre del Señor”. El campanario consta de 24 campanas, cada una con su propio nombre.18 de las campanas son de volteo y las otras 6 restantes son de golpe. La más grande de todas ellas, la campana de Santa María Mayor, es de golpe. La Giralda cuenta con multitud de réplicas a lo largo del mundo entre las que se encuentran la del Madison Square Garden, la Kansas (USA), la de Arbós (Tarragona) o en Badajoz. La Giralda es parte del Patrimonio Histórico de la Humanidad de la UNESCO, junto con la Catedral, el Alcázar y el Archivo General de Indias.

I captured this sunrise a few years back in Cades Cove, which is part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Catching a sunrise here is wonderful experience, often very atmospheric. Later in the day and in the evenings, crowds can make the experience less enjoyable, but it is what it is, right?
So, confession: this photo used to be in my Flickr "stream," but since I let my Flickr Pro membership lapse, I had to delete more than 2000 pictures from my account, lest photos be deleted for me. I figured I would use the culling as an opportunity to revisit some of my real favorites from years ago.
This is the view from Mynydd Moel looking towards Barmouth. The three hills, I believe, are Penygadair, Cyfrwy and Tyrrau Mawr. To the right of Cyfrwy is Llyn y Gadair and towards the horizon Llynoedd Cregennan.
The hike to this viewpoint requires around 90 minutes. We started from the Dol Idris car park just off the B4405 (postcode LL36 9AJ). The route is very simple - we followed the steps up keeping the waterfall to our right-hand side; we then followed the path around to the left so after a few minutes walk Llyn Cau emerges on the right. Hike the path up over past Llyn Cau and you will eventually arrive at the Penygadair summit. Walk straight over the summit and towards Mynydd Moel - look back to see this viewpoint.
It is controversial and I understand that Snowdonia National Park officials prefer the name 'Cader Idris' but I certainly prefer 'Cadair' Idris - I find the former to be too anglicized so will use the latter which agrees with the Welsh Language Commissioner on the subject. Take your pick!
Look familiar? Yep, this is my painting of one of my favorite places. In fact, I am working on a series of paintings revolving around my favorite places. I will eventually be posting them here. You may notice that the painting does not look exactly like the reference photo. That is because I don't believe in slavishly adhering to the image. Besides, that is what the photograph is for. El salto del Nervión es una cascada de España que se encuentra en el límite entre las provincias de Burgos y Álava dentro del área natural protegida Monte de Santiago. Con sus 222 metros de caída es el salto de agua de mayor altura de la península ibérica. El salto se forma el curso de agua originado por la confluencia de los arroyos Iturrigutxi, Ajiturri y Urita, y denominado río Délica, ve interrumpido su cauce por los cortados del Cañón de Délica. Convencionalmente después de pasado el salto, el río Délica recibe ya la denominación de río Nervión.
I've been to Smoky Mountain National Park a few times and never really liked the Cades Cove area. I always thought it was too crowded and I preferred the mountain forest with it's numerous streams and waterfalls anyway.
This last trip however, I spent a lot of time there photographing the many bears throughout the loop and I really started to love the place. There's something about driving through miles and miles of dark winding forest roads to eventually come to the Cades Cove area with it's wide valleys and open skies. As the sun sets all sorts of wildlife come out, from deer to bears to this coyote hunting the fields as the last rays of sun light the valley floors.

This is the first time since I have been into photography that I have been to Cades Cove, we went several times when I was a teenager and younger but I haven't been back since. I met my mother and sisters up here after I worked inventory yesterday so that we could go out there and see the synchronized lightning bugs which by the way should be on your bucket list.

Poblado Daxu, pequeña aldea situada a orillas del río Li, patrimonio de la UNESCO desde 1997 y fundada a principios de la Dinastía Song
Conserva sus calles estrechas, sólidamente empedradas, sus casas de madera alineadas a ambos lados, cada una con su patio y su estructura tradicional.
A la puerta de las mismas están sus habitantes: gente sencilla que combina sus labores tradicionales con las actividades modernas. Algunos de ellos se han convertido en guías ocasionales de sus propias casas o negocios artesanales, y no es raro encontrar al carpintero en sus labores, al farmacéutico, al dentista o al que ahuma el pescado.
En general Daxu respira paz, y su visita siempre es una buena oportunidad para conocer esa China rural que siempre parece escaparse.
